New users banned before posting...

I have noticed that some of you have been checking out user profiles of people who are banned with a zero post count, so I figured I could explain that.

Whenever a new person registers here, I do a complete background check of the user name, IP address and email address prior to allowing the first post to be made.

There is a database of known forum spammers and I check against that each time a new registration is filled out.

It's just like a finger print ID, If the new registration has been banned from other forums for spamming or just being a jerk, I am certainly not going to allow them here.

After all, when someone knocks on your door, you like to know who it is before you let them into your home, so I use that same philosophy here.

If anyone has "commited forum crimes" elswhere, we don't need them here.

Even better, your saving us from ourselves! I am always curious when I see users online that I don't recognize. So, occasionally I'll check to see when their join date is and if they have posted before. Maybe they have been members for a long time, and if so I like to go back and read the older posts. (There are a lot of them, and it seems the forum deteriorated at some point)

I second this c: I know too many people have cracked under the possession of said 'powers'... and those people I generally grew to hate over time since I'm usually a victim in their rampage. ;c

I am with you Greg i am not overly sociable. I don't do the FB thing. I am on a couple other snake forums once in a while. I check out people profiles sometime if they post something off the wall or a little odd.

i am like you greg this as far as i get in the public eye

i don't do facebook or any of that other stuff

to be honest i think its a tad wierd to have strangers gawping at you and your details at the presss of a few buttons

maybe i'm just getting too old for all that:yes:

i can think of a few forums who would benifit from mods like you mate
