Ians Vivarium Guide to Cornsnake Morphs (http://iansvivarium.com/cornsnakemorphs.php) is a great reference.

Here are my Corns and King. Some of these aren't their best photos, but ones that best showcase their colour or pattern.

Do kings tend to bite alot. I dont want to be bitten alot. I know I will have to be bitten sometimes but not alot. Its so hard to chose. How big do kings get and how many gallons does the tank need to be.

Mary, that looks like a snow to me. I have seen some quite pinkish hypo lavs, but the eye colour does not match. If it was carrying the lavender gene the center of the eye should be dark red and surrounded by blue-gray whereas a snow's eyes will be pink. It does have a nice clean contrast between the bright pink saddles and background, so it could be a coral, which is a hypo snow.

This is my new Honduran Milksnake, Echidna (after the woman/snake deity in Greek mythology) . She's a Hep. Albino with possible snow, but I don't plan on breeding so it kinda doesn't matter. She looks like a pretzel in the photo.

Suite she does i am really pissed my mother just told me that I am not allowed any snakes. I was really looking forward to my corn or milk. I still will bother her. I say if all goes wrong keep trying until it goes ur way. I will keep trying on her.

I dont know why my mother and my Dad hate snakes. Its not responsibility because they said I could get a lizard just ont a snake. I have no idea why because with lizards first of all u have to feed them alot and second of all the lizards have to eat crickets. Crickets are very loud but with frozen mice they cant escape and they dont make noise. I even said she didnt have to touch the thing or do anything. I even told her I would buy a mini freezer so I didnt have to put the mice in the family freezer but she still said no.

So I am really Pissed. Sorry for the long post. I am just really mad.

Don't be angry. Look at it as a challenge and an opportunity to educate them. Snakes are usually easier to take care of than a lizard. If you have a pet store that is close you can just buy live or fresh kill or even frozen from them and not have to have a freezer full of ded things, I am sure a mom doesn't like the idea of that.

molson101
02-24-11, 09:48 PM
Yea but we live in a small town we have no pet store, we would have to drive 15 minutes every day for mice.

2006gt
02-25-11, 03:50 AM
firstly, why would you go everyday, the snake only has to eat one good size meal a week, secondly 15 minutes is not long at all!! personally i would just wait till your mom and dad are comfortable in letting you have a snake, good things come when you wait!!

kenchenzo
02-25-11, 03:58 AM
as said just wait. educate them in snakes.

molson101
02-25-11, 08:38 AM
Yeah but when I tell them about snakes they just say "Your not getting a snake. Stop obsessing." They dont care.

and oh ya We would just have to go every week. Good idea.

I went from a no to her either ignoring me or changing the subject and when your talking about my mom that meaans she is actually starting to think about it. If I keep this up shell let me get one by the end of March.

A stunning collection as always, Derek.~

And Molson, I've wanted a snake since I was 4 or 5... and I finally got one, now that I'm 19. You may be in for a long wait.

What I did, is I talked to her about snakes randomly. Chit chat about stuff then she'd say something and I'd just randomly pop up snakes and how misunderstood they are. If she'd say,"but they're gross, slimey, and blablabla." I'd use my knowledge to wrong her of anything she said. "They bite." "If they bite it's probably your fault. Don't pick them up anywhere below 6 inches behind their head, don't hold their head, don't get nervous/scared when you go to pick them up and keep retracting your hand, try not to smell like food, don't hold them 1 - 2 days prior and after feeding, and, of course, don't do anything to hurt them or make them mad." The only bite you really can't help is a feeding response. To best avoid that, tongs would be good. I personally use myself.. LOL Just dangle the mouse by the tail over the snake. And, yes, I do expect to be bitten because of this, but eh. I'm cool with it. I may use tongs for my hognose, though.. Me and her would also frequent Petsmart, and every time I'd have to run up to the Reptile section and eye the snakes. Besides, the snake stays in my room. She rarely goes into my room, so it really shouldn't matter to her.

At any rate, just educate yourself as best as you can, and show them that you know what you're doing.

Having her take you to an educational show would probably help the cause as well if you can find any going on around you!

One of the many reasons I always suggest using the forum gallery to post photos...

Change one name or move one file and your photo bucket links all go bad at once.

molson101
02-25-11, 04:55 PM
Saphire you are right and that is exacly what I do. She will be talking about like something random and Ill be like blablabla about snakes. It seems to be working. I really dont want to wait that long and I dont think I will have to at the rate that im going. Ill get one soon. When my mom goes from saying no to ignoring me when I bring up the subject. Its a big step with my mom.

kenchenzo
02-25-11, 05:19 PM
my dad was the same when i was young.
he would go from saying NO to WERE SEE.
that pretty much meant yes very soon.
funny how we all have our tells.

molson101
02-25-11, 05:33 PM
For my parents they go from Mabye to No to Ignoring me to Mabye and then to Ignoring me again and then they finally say yes. I am at the first Ignoring me so im getting closer. I think I might get a Snow corn snake. They are cheap and I really like them. Unless some one is selling a really nice milk for cheap then I think Im going with a corn.

2006gt
02-25-11, 06:50 PM
that was fast you went from King,to Milk, to Now a Corn. you should decide which one you really want save the money up while deciding which one you want then by the time your mom says yes youll be able to go get it. do all the reasearch you can on the snake you really want and youll be way better off dont just settle for a corn cause they are cheaper get what you really want and like i said good things come when you "wait", dont just rush into any snake cause you really want one.

and also tell your mom she wont have to pay for anything for the snake

Let's not forget that sometimes we may need to take our pets to see a vet.

I always recommend to anyone that if they are going to get an animal, make sure you can afford the medical expenses should they arise.

molson101
02-25-11, 07:49 PM
I know man my mom already brought it back to a no wich means im restarting the cycle. Which I guess isnt a bad thing it means I have more time to save and I know i have been changing it alot but I really want a milk so I m going to save for that.

2006gt
02-26-11, 12:19 AM
That's a better choice and I agree totally with infernalis vet bill are def not cheap at all

We have cover for all our animals but even with that i still have an empty credit card that will never be used except for emergency treatments, that way if there is any dispute about the cover we can pay for treatment and sort out the paperwork afterwards. Also if we had to go to a vet that isnt our usual one then we would also not have to worry.

Found out this week having met my reptile vet for the first time that she is in charge of all of the Zoo's and large reptile collections in the South West of the UK - have had a concern that even tho she is a "reptile vet" that she may not be any good but defo reassured now.
