View Full Version : Rough Scale Sand Boa - More Aggressive?
From personal experience, would you say that the Rough Scale Sand Boa is more agressive? Bites more? Ive heard stories but wondered if they bite more than a normal Kenyan. I wanted to get a baby, so maybe that helps if I handle it often.

I've heard of this, too, but I've never owned one so I haven't a clue ;c

Ours was very nippy at first but after feeding and getting used to its new home it doesn't strike anymore but I still don't pet it. I just hold it and let it run through my hand. They are bigger.
They get bigger than a normal kenyan? Males & females?

As far as I know yes. The one we have now is a less than a year old around the same age as the two KSB's we have and it is 4 times the size. but still only likes pinky mice. On biting again I have never been bitten but it does strick alot after feeding for a few days. I think the best indicator if it doesn't want to be held is it will flatten its body, they have terrible aim though.

I was told it is a male. the male and female ksb's we have are both still the same size.

I had one and it was a total jerk. It would be hidden in the bedding and attack me when I was cleaning the cage. It also bit hard if you touched it more than halfway up to the head from its tail. I ended up rehoming him, because all he did was hide and bite, lol. Cute little bugger though.

Ok, so 2 days after eating and he didnt flatten out when i dug him out to hold him. For this guy I think thats the magic number. Also I think its some cage aggression, he is a sweet inquisitive little thing right now. I agree about where you touch it closer than half way up the body triggers a strike, also at the end of the tail. right in the middle or back 1/3 is the spot.
And you guys handle them often as babies?
