hey folks, picked this wee one up last night tis a lovely female false water cobra, and i couldnt resist snappin a few pics before puttin her in to settle for a couple of weeks...
tbh i never thought i would go down the venomous road but been looking and reading alot about these guys and seen alot of folk recommending these as a 1st hot and then an unexpected oppertunity came up with this one so i jumped at it...
she is around the 6ft mark so well grown on, nothing like jumping in at the deep end but i have had experience with some crazy *** snakes so i felt confident in my abilities.
sorry about the pic quality, they were a bit rushed and really dont do justice at all, will get some more when she has settled and had a few feeds enjoy...

thanks mate mine is ever growing. a lot of work with the nile monitor at the moment. he is very aggressive at the moment. all the fun of it all.
he is the nile that was loose in crawley.
sounds like he might be a nice friendly snake soon enough.

yea i have heard they can be quit aggressive like, but i like things with a bit of attitude myself, keeps ya on your toes! how was it loose tho, did it escape from you or you rescue it?
and yea the wee falsie seems quite calm like, was some journey to get it home but i hooked it out and tailed it and it sat there and let me have a nice wee look at her then went into the viv nice as ya like, no hooding or hissing at all, be interesting to see if it stays that way, have heard a few scare stories!

the nile was dumped with its viv in the street but then escaped from the viv. or was let out. then i rescued it from the rspca. i also rescued the anaconda he was also let loose in east sussex. people can be so stupid. but they do know who let him out so they are trying to get him convicted.
hopefully the cobra stays calm. but as you said i think everyone should have an angry rep in there collection.

thats pure nuts like, some people thinking astounds me sometimes, theres always someone willing to take something for free, why not just give the thing away, would stand a better chance than being left in the street, even if it ends up in the hands of a numpty! fair play to ya takin them in mate, and hope the boy who done does get convicted.
and yea kinda hope it stays calm myself, took a few tags in my time but dont fancy 1 from this, ya seen the video of that header nigel marvin getin chewed on by a falsie? leaves some hole in his hand like, chewin for a good 30-40 seconds.

i know what you mean why don't they just leave them at the vets or something.
the worst thing is the man with the anaconda is 45 he should know better.
that nigal marvin seems to like getting chewed by them.

Nice FWC! They are wonderful snakes. I have owned one for a year and a half, and he's a great, full of personality snake. My boy, Rogue, is very tame, but will hood up nicely in the cage and when someone points a camera at him. I have never been struck at or bitten by him, and I do freehandle him. I know there are risks with it, but most people will not be seriously harmed by their venom. I am sure you will have years of enjoyment with yours.

Thanks willow, yea they are definitely fascinating snakes, im in love already!lol! Yea i hav seen a few people free handling this species but will be a while before i attempt it with mine. Dont think it was handled too much before i got it so need to sus out its personality but as i said before it has shown absolutely no aggression so far so mabye 1 day tho there will be an alcohol spray at the ready lust incase she does decide to hav a go at chewin me.

I hook Rogue to get him out...I don't stick my hands into his cage. Of course, I only have a few snakes I would be ok with reaching in for. I generally hook everyone. I wore gloves for months until I got used to Rogue. He's not a difficult snake...FWCs will let you know how they feel with the hood.
Rogue clipped my pinky finger once when I fed him a live mouse, and I was ok, except it seemed to bleed for a bit longer than other bites I've taken.

1st handling session yesterday... had to do a bit of cleanin in the falsies tank so pulled her outa the viv for the 1st time, took a bit of coaxing to get out and was doing a bit of hooding (too cool) but once out she was fine, she went strait into a big tub for me while i cleaned her tank. once that was done i tried a bit of handling, she wasnt too bad but started to get a bit fiesty and didnt want her to lash out so back in she went into the viv. i dont wear gloves, i feel very restricted in my movements with gloves, i prefer to rely on my cat like reflexes!lol! but i think i got about 5 mins before she started getting a bit stroppy so gona try her every few days to try and get her used to me... the speed at which this thing can move if it really wants to is unbelievable, definitely not for the faint hearted!

If you get an agressive one definately a great trainer. Mine kept me on my toes, Got tagged a few times with only minor swelling and tingling. Finally got rid of him no matter what I did he would tear his cage up within minutes of fixing it. Never left a single rock unturned.

ok "ding ding" how much would you be willing to let go of your false water cobra for, i am very much interested in it, and was before it was given it to you, me and jayson had a deal worked out and backed out by giving you the snake, please personal message me, because i would really like the female, maybe we could work something out, she is going to be breeding for me. And i could sell you a pair half price, so 150$ opposed to paying a full price of 300$, i really want to get my hands on her.

ok mate you obviously have me confused with someone else, this girl wont be leaving my collection, i dont know the people you speak of so you can be interested til the cows come home, not gona happen, never mind the fact im on a different continent tho i will be breeding her myself so if ya want one that bad il ship a baby to you at your expense.
