Thanks I cant wait I might not be getting one until I get into my new house. So hopefully it will be done by May or June. Can you feed them Salad when they are babys. Because some places say that you should, some places say that it doesnt matter and some places say that you are not supposed to give them salad until tthey are Adults.

Eh... I don't think once every -now and then-, like maybe once every 1 - 2 weeks, is so bad, just not alot... As they progress into adulthood, they need more greens than crickets. I feed mine(he's an adult) crickets maybe 2 - 3 times a week, the rest is veggies.

Welcome to the forum! I look forward to seeing your brand new addition--whether it be in your old place or new. Please post pictures once you've acquired it. What kind of substrate do you plan to use (sand can reek havoc on their insides)? And don't forget to get/make a humid hide for the little guy. Try looking at usededmonton.com or Kijiji for the habitat you are looking for--it's amazing what you might find and, if it's close by, you can pick it up instead of paying for shipping. Aquarium Illusions, which is just off Mayfield Rd may be able to find you an aquarium as well. Good luck!

when u say lettuce i hope u mean romaine because normal lettuce is no good. greens are way better and for a baby 25% of their diet should be vegetables 75% meat (insects)
If its a baby beardie it needs to be feed a ratio of 80% protein to 20%greens.
Hatchling is one up to 5 months of age!
The types of greens that are suitable are the staple greens which are;
collard greens, turnip greens, dandelion greens, and mustard greens, and butternut squash. Greens should be chopped very fine and squash should be grated fine.
The best protein to feed is gutloaded crickets, They should be gutloaded for at least 24 hrs prior to feeding to your beardie, the feeders are only a vessel to carry the nutrients to your beardie.
For a Hatchling you will also want to make sure that you are dusting your feeders once a day with calcium with D3 and a multivitamin every 3rd day.
Let the bearded eat as many crickets as it will eat in 10 minutes, if he wants more give more, they are eating and pooping machines. Remove any uneaten crickets after he is finished and this should be done 3-4 times a day. Feed often, they grow really fast and have a high metabolism when they are young.
Good Luck, and don't forget pictures!

Do they need humitidy because from the research i did it didnt say anything about humidity. Are the crickets from the pet store Gut Loaded or do you have to do it yourself

Well I'd say that probably depends on your pet store, though it'd only be logical for a pet store to gut load them... never know, though...
Anyways, they only need moisture for shedding purposes, and a water dish normally works well. If yours is still having issues though, people always recommend a hide with a wetted paper towel works, or you could go as far as getting moss, but paper towel is more convenient, cheap, and should work. Nenna recently commented elsewhere about baby beardies being prone to hiding 24/7 if provided a hide(stated that can make them less friendly and also leads to a decrease in basking, which is bad), so I wouldn't recommend keeping a moist hide in there all the time, should you ever need the additional shedding help of one. Maybe for a few hours a day until his shed is over, but that's it.

A gut loaded cricket is only going to be nutritious for about 24 hrs. When I get my crickets or other feeder insect I continually gut load them, they always have food and a source of water. The feeder is only as nutritious as what it is fed. I make my own gutload, i just find that the ones at the pet store look like sawdust. I take a (high protein dry cat food, some bearded dragon pellets, milk powder, natural bran, fish flakes) put it all in a food processor and mix till a fine mix, keep it in a plastic container to keep fresh and add as needed. I also cut up a carrot and place that in the cricket bin as well.
For my super worms and mealworms I use natural bran as a bedding that they eat and place sliced carrots on the top of the substrate and change out the carrots every 2 day.

WHta kind of substrate do u guys use. And thanks for all the tips they are really helping.
Paper towel or ceramic tiles all the way for me, tiles hold in the heat really well, and are easy to clean.
