So my fiance is really taking a liking to snakes and mostly the sand boas. We just recently got two kenyans from a guy that has about 50 retics on the way from a big girl named bertha who is, he tells me the grand daughter of fluffy the largest retic that was ever in captivity. He also tells me that bertha is the largest retic in colorado, but anyays back to the point he needed room for the babies so we got the kenyans and now we got his rough scale!! Its about 1.5 feet and super pretty. I told her he was probably stressed and she should leave it alone but she couldn't wait and it bit her in the car lol. It was pretty funny and she said the shock of the bite scared her more than the bite itself. We have him in a 10 gal in aspen bedding. I took the advice of ppl on the forums and put pet carpet on the bottom to prevent burning and then aspen above. Neat snake, pics on the way.

the flat rock above the heatpad really warms up well I think I may do that on the rest of my tanks to keep dangerous heat off the snakes skin.

No name yet, he is a bit jumpy if you rub(pet) him. After like 4 missed strikes I think I will let this guy destress for awhile. Perhaps this is the "more nippy than kenyans" behavior that I have read these guys can exhibit. If so we will have to learn to not treat him like the other snakes :D

He looks awesome. Sucks about the nipping. He still nipping after settling down?

No it actually isn't trying to bite me I have realized its just a body twitch/aimless lunge. It seems to only happen as you pick him up from the enclosure but he knows I am touching him before, I just don't reach in and grab. Also after feeding this happens or if actually startled like when I turned on the light in the snake room one night and walked past his tank and he was out and he did a silly little lunge. It must be a defensive thing though if his mouth ever did actually touch me it may bite, I don't know.
