Hello everyone. I wanted to show you guys & gals how beautiful my baby KSB is. I am new to snakes, and will definitely be taking care of her to full extent! She also had her first pinky a week after I bought her which is a really good sign!! Let me know what you guys think of her :D

Nice snake, any particular rason for the glove? Wouldnt have thought something that small would bite hard? No criticism intended, just curiosity on my part.
Oh, she is beautiful! I am beginning to love KSBs more and more, especially with all the recent new member additions! They are becoming quite popular.
Also curious about the gloves...

Hey, I'm new to snakes haha, so I'm still frightened to pick it up from the enclosure. The gloves give me confidence lmao :)

no need to be scared just remain calm and steady when removing him from the cage and dont smell like his prey item and you should be fine

At the end of the day whaterver works for you, as long as it doesnt present harm to the snake, is fine. Just me ebing nosey really!! :)

Hehe no worries. The gloves won't harm the baby snake, will it?
Lankyrob

Not at all. Lots of people wear them for handling bitey snakes.

hang on are those latex or cloth?
Lankyrob
02-05-11, 05:00 PM
You could be right serpents, if they are treated latex then it could be a problem, i initially ssumed they were cloth but looking back they do look like latex.....

I always heard wearing latex glove is a easy way to break a snake of biting. They can stand the taste and after a few time they quit biting in most cases.

It is latex, but its the non powdered ones if that helps?? If wearing latex harms the snake, maybe I should stop then!

i dont think itll hurt if they arent the powdered ones but i could be wrong

the gloves will not hurt the snake but its not going to keep the teeth from your skin. a bit from a snake like that is going feel like nothing.

i got bit by a 5-6 foot redtail a year or two ago and THAT wasn't even very bad. i was more SHOCKED then in pain. my eyes must have been the size of quarters when he bit me. i had the job of removing him from the bathtub after he ate, and he CLEARLY was ready for rat #2, as he told my hand lol. he didn't even constrict on me, he must have known. i was totally shocked by the bite so i shook my hand alittle bit out of instinct and he let go almost immediately. (i think he got a BIT of chewing in first lol)
it felt kind of itchy and irritated for a few days because his teeth were dragging around my hand, but getting bitten is not NEARLY as bad as you would think be.
(unless you've got a hoggie trying to chew your hand off for an hour lol)
but i've only owned boas and my bp.
although i'm biased, i've spent my entire life skating and biking (and getting road rash) alittle cut or bite is not a huge deal in my eyes lol. although i do admit, when it happens, its STARTLING lol.

From personal experience, though not with snake bites, I TOTALLY agree with this. I had a sugar glider once and they'll bite with their sharp little teeth. Some are just finicky, some are frightened, but it's more of a shocking event than it is painful. It catches you by surprise.
Then again, I'm not too responsive to pain, so it could just be me.

Very nice KSB
yay! cute ksb btw. I'm still a firm believer that if you dont give it a reason to your snake wont bite. I havent been tagged yet but who know, i could be very wrong.

I don't think you will get bit by your snakes unless your holding a rodent in there face while they are hungry
