Hello all! Glad I found this forum!! I'm in the Twin Cities, Minnesota but I'm originally from Alberta, Canada.
I am the proud new owner of a BP. She's only 7 months old. I named her Fluffy just to be funny. I dunno, kinda rethinking it now. We'll see. "You are what you eat"...
I have some experience with snakes but not much. Doing lots of research online but it's nice to be able to chat with people about it. I'm the only one of my friends with a snake and the ones that know about her think I'm crazy.
I'm learning as I go and just doing what I can to make her happy.
I work as a 911 Dispatcher. When I put my dog down in December I decided that I wanted a lower maintenance pet. My efforts to keep her stress free are actually keeping me stress free.
Welcome to both the forum and to the amazing world of keeping snakes! Congrats on the new girl...we'd love to see pics!

I'm at work right now and my computer wont allow me to post pics right now. I'll try to get some pics of her tonight. I want to post a pic of my terrerium to get some suggestions on what else I need for her. Her favorite spots are under her water dish and a humidity box.

Blaine huh... I used to frequent the Venue now and then. Been awhile, not even sure if it's there anymore. Good timing on the move! another 6 inches of snow last night.
I'll take some pics. I have an exo terra 18x18x18. I know, it's not ideal for having multiple heat zones but its good for now... I'll upgrade to a longer tank soon.
Normal Ball, 7 month old female. Still getting used to her.

Here is my Exo Terra. A coworker has a heatpad for me from her old tank So i'm using my regular heating pad for now, I keep it on low. Temp is around 85/day and 75/night. I need to up the humidity though.

Welcome to the forum. My 14 year old son is just amazed that at 45 there are still things I don't know. There's tons to learn here and if you have a question simply ask. Everyone is so willing to share their experiences!

Thank you. It's a work in progess. She needs more leaves and a better water dish. The substrate is Fluker's Aspen Bedding.

You may want to bump those temps a little, i keep my BP's hottest spot (directly under the lamp) at 91f constantly (no nightime drop).
Great looking BP you got there.

Pretty snake. I like the tank too I want one of those for a vine snake one day. those tanks are mesh on top right? if you cover 3/4 of it with plastic wrap that will increase your humidity a lot when you mist. NOt a good idea if you have a heat source up there though, I use flourecent lighting so it works for me. I do the same as Lanky, though I use an undertank heater for my BP I keep it on all the time. If the snake wants to cool down it can move to the other side of the tank. PS twin city reptile has some great ceramic dishes.

Well I got the heating pad that sticks to the bottom and the red light that I don't have to change day/night. She's got a new water dish that looks better and she can't hide under it. (was too cold under there before). She really seems to prefer the cold spots rather than the warm ones. Back area is in the high 70's and the front is in the mid 80's. I started spraying to bump up the humidity and put in more foliage for her to hide in. She's back to her hiding ways again and spends her days in the humidity box. Just going to let her be.

I am in the east subs. Lake Elmo to be exact but no one ever knows where that is. It's between Oakdale and Stillwater.

@Schmoges...Greetings! Where were/are you from? I have a hard time meeting reptile people in my area. The closest person I have connected with is over 40 miles away in Redwing.
I love Colorado! I had a good time in Colorado Springs a few years back. Of course we visited all of the land marks. Royal Gorge, Pikes Peak, Cripple Creak, Mesa Verde etc. etc. But they really need to break out th plows when it snows!:crazy:

Well I am from Pine River/ Backus about 3 hours drive north of you. I have a home in Blaine and am renting it atm. I miss scaring the neighbors by letting my Bp sun itself in the front grassy patch and they would come walking up to say hi and not see it till it moves lol. I talked to some ppl on cornsankes.com that lived in MN but never met them. I like this site better though. Have you been to twin city reptile yet? I havn't been to Royal Gorge yet thank god I don't like heights. I have no idea what Mesa Verde is.
