Quick Setup Question

I had read a few posts made recently about a new snake in a new home to keep it in a non busy room and such. However in my home EVERY room is busy where the snake's home could fit. Should I consider adding some sort of background or blacking out the aquarium? My snake seems to get stressed at times while others she cruises around or seems to watch the goings on around her home. She is up high on a bookshelf (one I can barely get to the top of without help of a stool) so it isn't like my other animals or my son can get to the home, only me and my husband. I don't want to put her in a closet since the point of having a snake is to enjoy looking and watching ect. I wouldn't want any of my pets to be in a place where no one ever goes. But if the activity is to much for her I would... Guess I just want opinions on how a busy home effects a snake in general.

All my new snakes have been placed directly into our living room. We have cats, dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters and children as well as grown ups in that room for upto 20hours a day. Imo if that is the environment that they are going to ne living in then that is what they need to get used to.

Okay thanks Lanky. That makes me feel good. Seems like so many people have "reptile rooms" where they section off their reptiles from the rest of the house or something.

I wish i had the space!! Tho then i wouldnt be able to see them at anytime of the day just by looking across the room. To be honest i think i would always have them in the main part of the house so taht they are visible to us.

Because of lack of space, and because i have a very understanding reptile shop owner, sll my snakes were quarantined at the reptile shop in ome of their spare rooms so taht when they came into the house they went straight into the living room with the rest of the collection.

Thankfully there is no other snake in my home and the only other reptile resides in our bedroom (Mr. Grump the bearded dragon) since he is very shy about eating his veggies with people watching. That and his home is so long the only flat space it will sit on is a HUGE flat dresser.

But anyways, I have to agree. Why have such a nifty animal if you can't just turn around, look across the room, or whatever to see it. Then again a HUGE snake requires a big home that only a "empty" room could provide instead of a shelf or whatever.
