We replaced some substrate in our Spiny Tailed viv the other day and he has become obsessed with one little twig - he carries it round in his mouth like a dog and throws it about.
Photo's arent great as they are from my phone but here you go

That so cute. You should see if you can get him to play fetch.

He does!! Not very good at dropping it but if you get it off him and throw it to the end of his viv he will run after it and pick it up!

That is the cutest thing ever. I wonder why he got obsessed with that one stick? A scent on it or something perhaps?
Very cute! And what a great looking monitor you have Rob!

I never had much feeling toward lizards, the two we have are kinda the wifes but now i am more interested in adding lizards to the collection than snakes.
Dont get me wrong i LOVE my snakes but the lizards have really great personalitys and the bond with them is much stronger thsn with snakes.

Lizards do seem to have a little more going on inside the head than snakes...
Lizards standing up tripod style to beg for treats is always fun to see.

The spiny tail is pretty sweet for a first monitor, our one is full grown at about two foot including tail. Very sweet natured, only damage caused is by his claws when he clombs your arms.
We also have a frilled dragon who is real mellow too, her tail whips are the worst, especislly when they get you in the eye!! But she is a sweetheart andrarely does it now.
Both need a four foot vivarium minimm and we use a mercury vapur bulb to heat them and to provide uva and uvb. They live purely on insects tho the spiny tail can have a very occassionnal pinky mouse as a treat.
Beardies are, imo, the corn snake of lizards, very easy to look after and probaby most peoples first lizard. We are thinking of getting my daughter one for her 5th birthday lateer this year.

I can honestly say, At first I would not have been drawn to fat tail geckos, But we were given one and I just love that little lizard.
It's almost impossible to go wrong with one, just keep it warm and feed it bugs.
