I sure hope she stops biting soon, after i hold her and get bitten 10-20 times it takes her a half hour to settle down in her terrarium. Can anyone suggest anything besides holding her everyday?

If you just got him\her id give it time to settle minimize contact exept for changing water and cleaning for any snake this will let them get more comfortable with you being around and not eating them lolbut from what I've heard carpets are nippy lil things so gloves could be in order lol and don't reinforce the behavior by putting em down when they bite that's what they want im sure more will be along to add to that oh and welcome

don't handle for 3 days after they eat as this gives them time to digest their meal

its not so much holding them but letting them run through your hands so they get used to you and realise your not a preditor

all you can do is let her settle in then start with 5 minutes handling per day then once she accepts that up the handling to 10 minutes then when she's ok with that up the handling to 15 minutes

this gets the snake used to you without stressing it out too much

you could go through the above wearing leather gloves then once she settles start taking 1 glove off to get her used to the heat of your hands eventually taking both gloves off a few minutes after you take her out

its a fear thing with them they have to realise your not going to eat them then most of them settle down

is she eating regular ?

i always wait until hatchlings eat regular before trying to tame them down

its much more important that they eat before worrying about stopping them biting

ive heard if you wear a rubber surgical glove that when they bite it they don't like the taste of the rubber and this stops them biting

ive never used that method so have no idea if it works

hello and welcome

If you werent being bitten it wouldnt be a jcp!! As shaun said if it is eating well just take it slow and to reiterate the first response, if it bites and you put it down it will bite everytime you pick it up so tat you put it down again. Take the bite and keep holding for a few minutes before putting it down. When it learns that biting doesnt get the desired result itvwill stop, hopefully!!
