Theres info out there I know, and Ive read and heard but it seems to be that they require a dry environment. However Ive have also been told to keep some humidity in the tank. So would love to hear personal experiences from owners here. Do you keep any humidity in the tank? Do you use a dry substrate? Do you spray it? etc etc
Thanks in advance!

In my personal experience and I have owned a few Kenyans..your right they like it quite dry. They are a desert species and will be quite healthy and shed with no problem in a dry enviroment!!
for a subrate most people (and myself) use sand, just be sure to feed in a seperate enclosure so he doesn't ingest any sand. Also I have seen alot of herp friends use aspen for sand boas just because it too is quite dry and they love to burrow aswell!! In my opinion you should not spray the snake or the subtrate they will do perfect with just a water dish big enough for him to soak in!!!!

Hope this helps!! someone else will be along with some info aswell i'm sure

Ok. My water dish is the tiny exo terra one so not big. Its an 18x18 tank so I dont want to take up lots of room with a big dish. Unless I need to of course...

Somebody told me I could mix eco earth with walnut shell and mist it lightly sometimes?

no no no not for a sand boa hun......get yourself some aspen shavings or sand at your local pet store and that is great for the lil guy they are a very dry species in my experience misting is not necessary!! He will be fine with that dish how big is your SB:):)

Go with what has been said here. I know a lot of people who fill a very small water dish once every three days and leave it in there for a 24 hour period then remove it. That's all a snake like this would really need water/humidity wise.

Do people remove it because they get knocked over lots or another reason?

For the simple reason of keeping the humidity down.

The air here in Ottawa durring the winter is fairly dry with our electrical heating and its an exo terra tank which as you know has good ventilation. So Im wondering if durring the winters it can be kept in there...

Just take it out. Why risk the problem with wet substrate and too much humidity?

I keep a small shallow bowl with a lid that has a small hole cut in the top for access to the water the lid helps keep the humidity in the dish and does not raise the humidity in the enclosure I see my ksb drinking from it regularly I like this method because it allows her to drink and soak as she sees fit

try making a moist hide out of a small container like a sour cream dish and cut a C shaped slit in it so the snake can is it as a ramp. Then put some moss in it from the pet store and add a little water to it. that way if the snake ever want to hydrate by other means than a water dish it has a micro environment to slither into.
