I thought this would be a good idea for a thread, what are some of your pet peeves? I have too many to list, so I'll just share one for now:) I hate it when people ask questions then ignore you when you answer them!

^^ Oh, that drives me insane!

People who don't make eye contact when talking gets me. And people who interrupt you mid-sentence and continue to speak.

Could go on for pages!

i would have to say people who abbreviate everything, i know i do this some times, but when i do its because of my phone, or because i dont know how to spell it. i know people who will abbreviate EVERYTHING in a status on Facebook or what not, SOOOO annoying.

and being tickled, is that okay to say! lol despise being tickled

it is pronounce jyro. ever hear of a heroscope or heroscopics? <----- spelled them how they would sound i know there is a word for that but i dont know it.
its pronounced jyro sorry. check out the dictionary

you know i'm talking about the greek sandwich correct? if so i don't think you're right.

/edit, i googled it lol

Nobody pronounces it right and the people at the restaurants are used to it. The most egregious sounds like "jai-roe" with the "jai" sounding like "pie." You're better off just trying "hee-roh" like "hero" but with a little longer "e." The correct pronounciation is actually a soft g, which is very hard for most Americans to get right.

re: rockandroller1 yeer-oh seems to be the closest phoenetic spelling I can come up with. Although some hardcore greeks may frown upon mispronunciation - I'm pretty sure that if they have a que for their gryos they don't care how you pronounce it so long as you pay. =P

re: Prax1134 I grew up in an area with a large Greek population and yeer - oh was the accepted pronunciation. But they are tasty however they are ordered!

we are both wrong, apparently its yee roh! lol although your pronunciation is the most egregious ;)
(and maybe the american dictionary doesn't pronounce greek words correctly, who knows O.o)

/edit american dictionary for canadian xD

the end!

I can't stand it when people think they are better than others- vanity drives me insane. I also hate it when people think that just because they and all their friends are rich, it means they're automatically cultured and worldly. Get out of your fancy little sports car and go buy a homeless person a meal, you privileged little twit!

And people who "LOL-speak" in actual face-to-face conversation. I know a person at my school who, instead of laughing, will say "LOL"....huh? Are you that removed from human contact that you've forgotten the proper response to a joke???

People who lie, cheat, and steal.

People who are selfish and only care about their own personal gain.

People who cannot admit they are wrong.

People who ask for your help, and then get mad at you while you're trying to help them (I was a math tutor for about 3 years).

People with know common sense. Please stop and think before opening your mouth.
People who stare at my youngest son who is mentally handicap.
Seen a shirt i want to get him for when we take him out in public it says
" If you stare long enough maybe you'll cure my Autism. Then together we can work on your social skills."

I am with Kim all the way about people who think they're better than someone just because they different.

I dunno about other parts of the world, but in western canada a t shirt/hoodie, loose fitting jeans and basic skate or athletic shoes have been the overall "norm" as long as i can remember (for mens fashion).. Nowadays im seeing more and more people wearing skin tight jeans with the waist just above the knees, long sleeve shirts that would best fit a 6 year old and high-HIGH top sneakers that would even look embarrassing in the 80's.. No offense to anyone, but this post asked what our pet peeves are, and this is sure one of them

I had to vent on this situation..it has me steaming mad. A while back I met a couple who claims that they've been keeping snakes for years. They were interested in a pair of Savu pythons I had made an offer on and was waiting for confirmation. I ended up getting the Savus, and promised the couple I'd keep in touch and sell them babies, since they talked about how much experience they had with snakes. Well, since then we've been in touch and they have done some stuff which just flabbergasts me. They had a GTP die of neurological symptoms and mouth rot about a month ago (symptoms of BOID but very fast onset of signs to death- less than one week). They were posting all over Facebook that their snake died of BOID without getting any testing done. I told them to keep quiet until they had test results or they'd probably ruin their reputation. I gave them information on several similar diseases and vets that could run tests for them, but apparently they never bothered. They've also since bought more snakes and haven't quarantined anything!! Also, the lady was telling me her hogg island boa died the other week. I felt bad until I heard how- apparently they were housing the baby boa with an adult BCI and a ball python. The BCI killed and attempted to eat both the other snakes. WTF??? Really??? You've been keeping snakes for years and didn't know that you should never house them together???? Also, they potentially have BOID in their collection and they're bringing more animals into the house..and not getting any testing done. Come on! I am soo glad I bought the pair of Savus and they didn't. Ugh, makes me so mad. I am trying to be helpful but it was hard not to rip them a new one when I heard about the Hogg island boa.

Kim please turn them in to animal control so know more poor animals suffer at their hands.

I am not sure exactly where they live or any such thing. I told them they need to seriously reconsider whether snakes are for them, and whether they can care for their animals. If you don't have the space to individually house snakes, don't get more. If you can't afford veterinary care and testing if things go wrong, don't get snakes. Same way you wouldn't get a dog if you couldn't afford the vaccinations, don't get a snake if you can't afford the potential costs. I told them that and hopefully it will sink in. I also haven't been talking to them since I heard about the snake eating those other snakes. I chewed them out about improper housing and unnecessary deaths and how they should never get more snakes if they cannot afford to house them or don't have the space. If I hear of any more negligence on their part, I will have to try to turn them in. Unfortunately, animal control in PA doesn't do much in the way of protecting reptiles. Unless there is some sort of public danger, they really don't care. It's sad, but we herpers are better off trying to police each other.
