I am terribly sorry to those effected, recently a certain IP in the Ukraine has been posting rubbish on our forums, and the attacks are hitting our most popular threads.
Will be speaking with our admin about blocking all posts from that IP, at that time I will re-open the threads.
If you wish to rant, post angry faces or whatever, do so right here ;)
Today alone I banned 3 users while they were still in the process of typing their post based on the fact that the user profiles all originated from the same computer and included the same hot links in the persons signature line.
This past week has been like a spam plague.

That's crazy. I'm glad we have a great moderator to rid the forum of these scumbags (sorry for the rash words, I hate spammers).
It seems that they will rest at nothing to try and make a buck; honestly, posting extraneous crap on a reptile forum? IMHO, get a life! End rant.

It seems to be happening a lot all over the net. Couple of other sites I go to, they are art sites, have been having MAJOR security issues. And though they are not related to one another the problems are exactly the same and apparently originating from the same place. Crazy freaking internet.

It's insane, Infernalis. Thank you for keeping on top of those spamming idiots. Spammers make me sick- as do scammers!

All you can do is keep blocking numerous IP addresses until they give up or run out.

I found the problem tonight. CAPTCHA has been hacked. Spammers have found a way to bypass security and make automatic posts on forums.
CAPTCHA–which stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart–is a method for foiling automated attacks by spammers on Web sites.
The system is no longer secure for preventing spam.
I've often wondered what kind of person buys a product or service that is offered through spam. Back before the housing bubble popped, I used to get inundated by spam mortgage offers, which usually misspelled mortgage in an attempt to bypass spam filters. Who would trust their house to a company that advertised with spam?

Not sure, I know I would never do any business with a spammer.
This is what they found a way around, now computers can spam faster than humans can delete it.....10 bucks says I have new ones to kill right now.

A solution has been found. The forum registration process will have a different verification that only a human can answer. (for the moment anyway)
Once the new process is up, I will re-open the threads that I had to close.
