im looking to buy one more and finally put a hold on snake buying for a while but now the one snake i want them most is something big (girthwise) not retic or burmese kind of big, but also very docile and calm in its adult years.. Something along the lines of a BP or boa, definetly looking for suggestions!

I would go with a boa, either a bcc or one of the localities. these are awesome animals, almost like a dog with no legs.

If you want large, but not giant, and docile, then you would probably be happiest with a red-tail boa. The Colombian locale gets about 7-8 feet and the pure red-tails like Peruvian and Bolivian get 10-12 feet. Keep in mind, however, that the average length for MALE Burmese pythons in captivity is also 12 feet. There will be some that get larger, and some that stay smaller, but the majority of boys stay around 11-12 feet from the research I've done. My male is 8 feet 9 inches but will most likely get a good bit larger with proper care and feeding (he's a rescue).
Coastal carpet pythons also hit about 8-9 feet and are more slender than the boas, so they don't get the weight. I am a huge carpet buff, and can say carpets are more active and curious than boas for the most part.
It depends really on what kind of experience you have and what characteristics you are looking for in a snake. If you want slow-moving and generally lazy then a BCI or Burm would do well for you. If you want more active, then a carpet is a better choice.

Something along the lines of a BP or boa, definetly looking for suggestions!Well then silvsupratt, the world is your oyster, any of these snakes would be suitable, but i hope you have fun choosing, and you will know when you see it Suitable animals include, brazilian rainbows, woma pythons, blood pythons, some of the carpets would be a good if not addictive choice. Royals, and some of the aussie pythons not belonging to the carpet complex are always worth adding to the collection.:)
Good input everyone! I like BPs, BRB, and JCPs.
The BP will be short and relatively stout, but very docile and easy to handle. My adult BP is surprisingly the most active snake I have! The only time he isn't flying around his viv is after being fed, or during shed. Very fun snake, but a little shy. He's more or less maxed out at 4 feet and a few inches of girth.
My BRB is probably the most docile and "friendly" snake I have, so I'm hoping she hits 7-8 feet! She hides most of the time, but is very active when out of her viv. She's very easy to handle, but has slightly more stringent husbandry requirements than a BP.
And then there's the JCP. She's not overly active in her viv, but outside of it she's like lightening! Darting here and there and everywhere. Fun snake to have. Husbandry is straight forward. I'm hoping she becomes a 7 footer.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Nice selection of animals you have yourself there, they all sound content and behaving normally... perhaps credit should go to the keeper:)

Thank you for the kind words...I pride myself in taking good care of each and everyone of my babies. While my collection is fairly modest, I do take pleasure in owning a decent variety!
pythonman, I know you have a lovely collection filled with many snakes on my wishlist!
And JR, I know you're starting to build up your collection, but have some lookers in your possession as is!
To the OP, if you do get a Morelia, be prepared for an addiction like none other! ;)

If you want girth and a small length size. Borneo short-tail pythons. Females usually get about 12 - 15 pounds and say in the 4 - 5 foot range. Males are smaller of course. Beats out everything that has been suggest.

only if you want a snake that only moves at feeding time
they're like big fat draft excluders with lazyeyetess
that said they have one of the most powerfull strikes when feeding i have ever felt
maybe thats why they sit doing nothing all day long (storing all that energy for a strike:yes:)

^ ^ ^ Sounds like me - i move fastest when there is food around!! ;)
Either BP's (Ball or Blood) sound like good suggestions in the python category. I'd recommend Dumeril's for a boa as they are one of the more heavyset boas, they're in the 5-7 foot range, and are known for their calm temperament.

Ohh, bloods can move fast when they want to, even if it's not feeding time. I got nailed by my pair a few times when I had them. Man, they were some of the most painful strikes I ever got, even though they were still not full grown. The bite itself wasn't too bad, but the bruising was crazy!

i do not know if theres any truth to it but.....
i once got told by a guy who keeps bloods that they had enough power in their strike to break a human leg
i can see how it may be believable as ive fed full grown bloods and its definitaly one of if not thee most powerfull strike ive ever felt
for big lazy guys they have awsome power ...!!

and more holes then you started with
^^ LOL...yes, young Morelia are notorious for being very defensive. However, they *typically* calm down. If you don't want a little biter (painless, but easily breaks the skin), I'd suggest a sub-adult (~1-2 years). Great snakes nonetheless!
