Mine is a little under 3 feet long, and I'm wondering, how long until he outgrows his 30 gallon? because if he gets to be 6 feet in a few years he won't be staying in the old tank.

If you know for sure it's a male he'll never outgrow that tank. Hell even if it's a female it will never outgrow that tank. 6 foot bp's are very, very rare. He may get to 4 feet if it's a male but probably not.

I also recommend getting a plastic enclosure. Something from vision or animal plastics looks nice.

And also, Bp's don't move around a lot. Something plastic will hold humidity much better.

Biggest ball pythons I have seen have ALL been males. 3 of the 5 have been over six feet eating baby rabbits.

There's one in a pet store by my house, and it's got to be at least 6 feet long.

The 30 gal tank is very suitable for an adult BP as long as the temp and humidity are at the correct numbers.

Like Aaron said;
Folks, ball pythons don't get to six feet very often, maybe one in a thousand if that.
Males NEVER get to six feet.
I have a couple of 5000g females and they're barely pushing 5 feet.
You're all out to lunch.
