Save up your money! they are awesome! :) I think I waited around 15 years from the time I decided I would get one to the time I actually got one.

Juvenile carpet pythons can often be found for under $100. Why aren't you allowed to have one- are they illegal where you live? Irian Jaya and Jungle carpets rarely exceed 6 feet and are therefore usually ok with most city laws. However, when you are ready and allowed to get one, they make excellent, interesting and personable captives.

Believe it or not the arguments here do work. First you could use it as a motivation to get a job, then claim that it allows you to focus your spending on related paraphernalia, then promise to save exactly equal amounts away for each dollar you spend on this hobby. To top the cake offer up the fact of time spent at work and with snake is time not spent partying :)
I used a similar system to offer my parents the frame of mind necessary to where they no longer bother me about shaving with a straight razor (and I don't even live with them).

straight razor = cut throat razor ?

you use a cut throat razor to shave

your a braver man than i mate

i let a barber shave me with an open razor once and i was pretty scared when he got to my throat:freakedout:

you must have a very steady hand

cheers shaun

Yes, cut throat, as you islanders call it.
It really isn't that hard and I get no razor burn and less nicks. The shaves are closer, more comfortable and I now take better care of my skin than I ever have.
I am not the only one here that shaves this way: nanna and feebo do as well.
As for steadiness nanna has tremors and she shaves fine. Its all a matter of knowing how to use it, just like any other tool.

As for this thread: have you made any progress?
Another thought that might help is to show that you have researched herpetology to no end. Find a breeder, talk to them, get details on care, maybe go to your library and read a couple of books, find people in your town who enjoy this hobby and learn from them. The most important thing is to show the initiative. Most parents say no because their child shows just the minimum amount of interest to their parents, but if you show them exactly how interested you are without asking again for a snake you might be surprised. The biggest thing is not to flaunt it in their face with what you are doing. Your parents know way more about you than you might think. If you really want to go the extra mile find someone at your local community college or university who is into snakes and really befriend them.
Most importantly, update us.

I just stopped shaving once I was old enough to grow a full beard. I may look like a mountain man/unabomber, but at least I don't have to shave every morning.
