Hey all! I have a one year old ball python and a couple boas, but my ball's heating mat stuck under her tank somehow malfunctioned and got way to hot and she pushed her substrate off of it and I think it burned her! Her belly scales are lifted! Like there swollen! I just found out tonight. What do I do? Can I treat this or take her to the vet right away? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My advice is always the same, see the vet.

Forums are great for everyday advice, husbandry, chit chat and such, but in no way a substitute for proper medical attention.

Belly burns range in severity so it's best to get a professional to look at it.

Best wishes with your situation, and good luck.

Great news! She's going to be fine the vet gave me some balm ointment for her. He told me the swollen scales will pop and return to normal over the next week. Do you guys know of any maybe expensive heat mat for her cage? I want to make sure this never happens to any of my snakes again. Thanks for the help and support. As soon as I figure out how to post pics on here I'll put pics of my girls and my boy.

Good news. Now with that new heat pad you need a thermostat. Try Kingsnake.com or reptile basic.com.
