Suriname breeding

Hello all! I have two Suriname boas, a four year old male 6'2" and a 2 1/2 year old female 6'1". I recently bought the male (6 weeks ago) and put him in with my female in her tank and they looked as though they where starting to mate. They are both very healthy and happy. Is this ok? Is she to young? I've been told if she's six feet she's good to go and she is. Should I pull my male out? I don't want anything to happen to my girl. She is so pink from her head to her tail. Any advise would be much appreciated. Thanks!

She way to young, plus snake should be keep separated. The only time they should be kept together is for breeding. As far as breeding them i give them a year. Find out everything you can on doing it and make sure you do the cooling down period. If you try rushing breeding her to soon you'll just get a bunch of still born and it could cause health issues for her. Three years minimum age on most snake for breeding, but a lot of breeder say if you wait till they're 4 years of age they tend to have bigger health clutches.

She is big and healthy and I would like to keep it that way. I will pull my boy out and let her fully mature before reintroducing them. So I can't keep them together even in the summer, when it's hot? I want the best care I can provide for all of my babies.

Pretty much all snakes neec to be separately housed, with a few exceptions.

Hey so I took out the male and my girl is freaking out. It's like she's in extreme protest. I'm sure that's ok, but she looks swollen in here rear like two and a half feet. I didn't do any type of cooling period or anything they where kept in a gradient of 90' 86' 80'. I'm really Hoping it's just a rat but I thought she was empty. They where only together for a week. Do you think it is just food?

How long since you last fed her? That close to the tail i would be surprised if it is a food item, would think it would be digested before reaching that far............

Yeah that's what after talking to I'm worried. She ate ten days ago and then again yesterday. She already pushed out the old meal, and the new one is still up where it should be. Does this mean she's preg's or dropping eggs? They weren't together that long only about six days.

Only takes a couple of minutes to "do the deed" six days is more than enough time.

it only takes one copulation to get her pregnant i would treat her as if she was and if she gives birth congrats. at 6' she will survive being pregnant and more than likely be ok.

Thanks guys. She hasn't gone into a shed yet, isn't that the true indicator? Don't they have a shed that last for three to four weeks? Is this what I should be watching for to make sure they did seal the deal?

how long has she been swollen? unless i am much mistaken she should only be swollen for 48 to 72 hours.

ya like dragonuv said she should be fine if shes nice and fat and 6 feet long, its just its Not good to breed snakes this young, so if she not preg keep them apart untill shes at least 4, then introduce just for breeding then seperate again. I wish you the best of luck either way. i hope shes not preg so she will grow to her proper size and then produce some beauties for you when shes good to go :)

It looked as though she ate a couple softballs or something. The knotted swelling has gone down a lot from yesterday, but is still a little noticeable. She's getting pretty dark, I think she may just be sheding or post ovulation shed not sure. She is huge for her age! Nothing but solid muscle. I do not over feed or force feed her she just has two jumbos every ten days. I know she would like much more then this, but I don't want her getting chubby. Haha!

Boas dont lay eggs, they give " live birth", so you wouldnt be looking for eggs but a bunch of little wigglers, and if she is preg, then i wish u and her luck!! hope for the best??

For clarification, I know that boas don't lay eggs. I was curios if she was ovulating. When they ovulate they drop eggs that absorb the sperm. This egg then develops into a boa. It's not your conventional egg that you think of, but more like the development humans have inside the womb. I have boas and pythons and understand the differences.
