Sid Vicious Ball python. sorry no pics. My brother law was going into the Marines and asked if i would take care of him. I said yes. He said he was told it was a boa. I wanted to learn more so i bought A book on python and boa to fine out it was a Ball. The book had pics of Bloods, Diamond Carpets, and BRBs.:) That was it i was hooked.

What species?
Antaresia Maculosa (spotted python)

Why did I choose it?
Small size, ease of care, looks, etc.. etc..

Pics 3 weeks in my care at 6 months (she is over two years now)

15 years ago, a rat snake.....he ended up passing away after we had an ice storm that lasted a week and no power. It was 20 degrees in the house during that week. Very sad and unfortunately, no photographs.

i was born when my dad had 2 full grown boas , after that i believe my very own first snake was a garter snakes for a few days at a time. i would get one put it in the cage not feed it for a day or 2 and i would let it go in the bush that was infront of the house i caught it from. i was only like 3-4 years old so i could not really keep it and know what to feed it properly, hense why my folks only let me keep it for the day if not 2 tops. :) and amber lynn, thats one Hot looking albino, almost looks like a colal albino or a sunglow.

First was a pissy BP about a year ago now. I traded her off for a couple of corns. Can't seem to stop looking to acquire new snakes now.....I am far from an expert, but definitely an addict!

Dont have pictures of my first snake readily available, It was a ball python about 13 years ago. I know my mom has atleast one picture of me holding it when i was 10, I'd like to have it as proof of where it all started. I got it from a local pet shop, (not like most pet shops) It was a reptile show basically, and the guy actually bred and TOOK CARE of his reptiles and was very knowledgable unlike pet stores around today that I have been in.

I don't have pics of my first snake
I was about 6 or seven and it was a small garter. I was fishing in the mountains when I needed to pee. as I was walking to go find a place I spotted a small snake I picked it up walked over to my mom and said here mom hold this don't drop it or put it down. She opened her hand and I put it in. She starts screaming but she never let go. I had it for a month before letting it go back where we found it

About 7 years ago a friend got me interested in snakes and we decided to get a pair of Corns. Our grand plan was to eventually breed them, but turned out we both got with boys. I now have 7 Corns, a MBK and 2 Dums, but no plans for breeding, they're all pets (well I call them my scaley kids). Anyway, here's Keenan, the one that started it all...

At about 1 year old:

thanks. we are thinking that he has some coral in him, but would much rather him be a sunglow lol not completely sure what all his parents had in them...just know father was albino and mother was het w/albino gene....

yea... part of what got me intersted in the hobby when i was young was a couple across the hall who had 2 full sized bps in a 30 gallon breeder tank with a water bowl and a stick. with no lamp or anything for heat. bad husbandry was very common back in the day

From what I can tell, it is still very common though the information is more readily available. But then, some people are too lazy to look.

I wish I had pics of my old corns, but they were both Almenistic (spelled right?) and both came from the same batch of eggs, though we bought them at two separate times. We bought them because I had most of my experience at the zoo I used to work with handling corns for the public to interact with. Though I will say that one of our corns turned really aggressive and would strike at the glass of our aquarium any time he saw movement. Used to make an S like pattern and sway back and forth hissing and such. We ended up giving him back to the breeder.

I had a baby albino cornsnake. I fed it 4 days after I got it. It died shortly there after. I still don't know why it died and even after all my experience I can't figure it out. It ate the pinky fine and didn't choke. Got it all the way down so no idea.

@nev: Congrats! I really like the pic; sneaky little snakey...can't wait to see more pics :)

@Neena: Amelanistic is the word you're looking for I believe. Pigments equal melanins; as asexual is to sexual, amelanism is to melanism.

Damian my Lavender Albino California kingsnake. I got him because he was the coolest snake I saw at the reptile store. I knew he wasn't gonna get later and we just clicked! He's over a year now! This is an older picture. My boy! :)
