How to produce a Zebra?

Hi all, this is likely an easy question for most of you, but I'm not a breeder and I haven't looked too much into genetics. (Saving that for after I finish school--I already have too much to learn!).

How do you produce a Zebra Jungle Carpet? I think they are beautiful snakes and would love to someday have the capacity to produce one, but I haven't the slightest idea on how they are actually produced?

Is it a recessive or dominant gene? Co-dominant? Or is it through selective breeding of highly striped JCPs? Again, sorry for the (stupid) question, but I am very curious...

It is my understanding that the zebra morph is a pattern variant of the jungle carpet python, it is a co dominant mutation.Breeding a zebra to a normal jungle should produce offspring of both, although what percentages I am unsure. Breeding zebras together gets super zebras, with a patternless form. Hope this helps.:)

Thank you for the detailed answer, I really appreciate it! I think they are really beautiful and unique looking snakes, and would love to start a project someday (all offspring would likely stay with me). ;)

its a co dominant gene so in theory your looking at half the clutch being zebra's the other half normal jungles

mother nature dont do theorys though so you could really end up with any amount in a clutch

zebra to zebra have produced supers in europe

paul harris of uk pythons is the only person i personally know of thats done this

the hatchlings were patternless

he thinks they will develop into patternless bright yellow snakes

Zebras, in my opinion, are stunning looking snakes!

Thanks Shaun, I checked out the UK pythons site and saw the patternless Super Zebra.......absolutely amazing!

Again, I can only likely dream of starting a Zebra project someday, as their prices are prohibitively expensive.....sigh
