Cheers percey39 i really enjoy keeping these guys, pretty laid back, easy to care for,a nice size to manage. And their colouration so much better in the flesh. when i walk in my rep room on a morning and turn on the heat, 4 heads and necks looking skyward to warm up, Quite a sight:)

They are very unique like that!! Also love the fact that they will head butt more often than not and most bites occur through a feed response. I have been thinking about getting some for a while, but my motivation lies elsewhere more often than not unfortunately.

Thats the beauty of our hobby too much choice, the bites i have recieved are not painfull (wether thats because they lack pre maxillary teeth) but they do hang on for a while, Such incidents happen not very often, and BHPs are usually the perfect captives with great character.

The females commonly reach 9ft and the males 7ft, a lot depends on where they occur in australia, they are quite decieving as for a fairly slender species are extremly muscular and strong, Fantastc snakes.

I have a friend who has a few different localities of these guy's, but to be honest they all look amazing!! For snakes with smallish heads man can they tackle some decent prey sizes.

Your not wrong percey 39, it is now considered more in the species interest to feed these pythons little and often, as fatty liver problems are starting to show up in long term captives. Wether this is due to the species been reptile feeders, who carry far less fat than mammals, or just over zealous keepers over feeding(as they will eat whenever possible)is yet to be proved. i myself feed small meals and resist giving another feed till the animals start constantly cruising their vivs ready for the next meal.Strangely the neonates can be problematic to get on to mammals, and all 4 of my charges were assist fed between 4 -12 times before they took dead prey themselves, once started they dont stop...for anything other than 2 months of the breeding season which is somewhat enforced on them by myself, females when gravid usually dont feed.

I agree:yes: Your girl has a gift with the camera, I've been trying to catch the iridescence in my nic boa, but my camera skills suck. Even swearing at it doesn't help.

I've been eying them up in the kingsnakes classifieds, but I just cannottouch the price.:no:I always consider myself fortunate to be able to spend time with the 4 animals i maintain in my collection, i have been at it a long time and i am sure many others will share in the enjoyment of maintaning these animals as the price falls as availability becomes more commonplace. Its not what we keep but how we enjoy it.
