Our Nic boa has done that a few times (usually just randomly) but it never lasted long. He's always fixed it himself but in our case it's never been a problem - let alone a serious problem. Our Dumeril's has "bit" his lip before while eating and afterwards (and resembled what our Nic has done)we just opened his mouth and when he closed his mouth it was fine.

a picture would help us mate
check he has not damaged any teeth
ive seen teeth bent out of shape sticking into a part of the mouth when the snake trys closing its mouth
instead of sitting straight down and curved back they were pushed to the side and up so jagging into the snakes upper mouth
if you gently prize open his mouth with a wooden pencil you will be able to hold it open and check all is well in there
could be he's just hurt a part of his mouth when he bit through the lip and is just nursing it to save pain
cheers shaun

My Nic boa did that actually a day before she shed. She had a tooth poking through her upper lip. After the shed, all was well. Would be a good idea to check though.
