Thanks everyone, nope no cookies for her. They will go straight to her hips :) I can't wait till the lucy rays are adults. I just hope the male starts taking it a little easier on biting me.

Lol no I dont have any problem getting bit. Its part of the game I love my vertically challenged friends regardless lol! Yes kings seem to (in my experience) bite out of no where, your holding them, acting fine and then all of a sudden your being chewed on. My adult colubrids are in brumation and I went into one of my spare bedrooms where they are being cooled and was changing water and the axanthic female was calm as can be I went to put her back in and I went to pull away and there was something attached to my wrist lol. But this male leucistic is straight out to get me at first and gets spooked very easily and will bite me. But he is actually chilling out quiet a bit, When I first got him I would hold him briefly and he would have his mouth open and biting the entire time and tonight he only bit me 3 times! and was calm and tolerated being held for about 5 minutes with no issues. But who wants to get bit a dozen times in a single handling, every time. Beautiful snakes though!

Oh but I dont want to make it sound like my snakes are mean because they arent and are all a pleasure to work with.

A female should get around 6-7 feet, they have been known to get larger.... But on average I would say that, and a male just a little smaller. They are a heavy bodied snake but obesity is common in bci's in captivity, alot of the pictures of adults you will see are on the fat side IMO. Im having a hard time thinking of something to compare the girth to( I just took some cold medicine and am feeling a little out of it) My advice to you would be to go to a local reptile show, or find someone who has an adult and handle it and see how comfortable you are with a snake that size to ensure that you are fully prepared for what is to come. BCC's are really nice too, I really like the suri's.

As this is a great site and im sure there are plenty of knowledgable people here on boas I would maybe reccomend considering checking out redtailboa.net, great group of people over there and very knowledgable people when it comes to boas!

Well Alot of people do say those sizes for average, but I asked that same question when considering caging for my boa and was told by someone who has kept and bred boas for a number of years and got the 6-7 foot range, I guess 8 foot could still be possible for a healthy snake, depending on genetics. I am no expert on bcc by an means, I have never owned one but its my understanding that they tend to grow slower but I think that they get larger than the bci's. Dont mark my words on that though.

yeh could be.... i just googled it and apparently it can vary alot due to locallity... thnks though... do you have any tips on handling them, do's n dont;s etc. ?

Yes locality has alot to do with it..... Always have someone nearby when handling an adult just incase things go south. I hook trained both my boa and retic. And just handle it with care and you should be just fine.
