After quite a bit of reading and some trial and error dakota took her first f/t she did well ate and had no problems. I am so glad I did not want to have to feed her live.

That's awesome! Congrats. I have yet to meet a snake that wouldn't eat a f/t.

My BP was raised on live for over 4 years. About 6 months ago, in an effort to save money (and for safety reasons), I transitioned him to F/T.

It was difficult, but I was successful.

Since he was "programmed" to kill a warm and moving prey item, I had to ensure that the prey was very warm. Also, I feed him off tongs, and I usually have to make the prey "dance," essentially mimicking the behavior of a live prey item.

To my limited understanding, carpets generally prefer a prey item with a very distinct heat signature (i.e., very hot!). You might have to simulate live behavior by implementing the "dancing" method I mentioned above, in parallel with offering a well heated piece of food.

Also, my JCP would only take food if I fed her on a perch.

Hope that helps!

Very relieved I think that after feeding all 10 snakes today I have a little more confidence in my ever growing abilities as a snake keeper.

Dakota is 2 1/2 and has been on live her whole life I tried to feed her f/t and she would not take it so I gave her a live about a week later on her next feeding I tried f/t again and made it warmer and dried it off with paper towels and she did not hesitate I was so happy.
