I am having a difficult time getting the 75 gallon tank to the appropriate temp for my sav... I currently have 2 100w heat lamps going 24/7 and a heating pad under the tank, but its not going above 90-94... I do have a screen top, but I have sized pieces of Plexiglas to prevent the heat from escaping... any suggestions?
Thanks!!

Even though I highly recommend not using an aquarium for housing a Savannah I guess we have to work with what we have. ;)
Are the 2 basking lamps side by side and very close together, or spread apart?
What is the overall temperature of the room the tank is set up in?
We keep the entire reptile room at temps above 80 so there is already a good head start. (Never had any RI issues either with any of our herps)
Many people will keep their homes at temps in the 60-65 degree range to save on utilities, however that is not ideal for keeping reptiles.
If the room is chilly, then your cage setups have to work very hard to keep the temps adequate whereas a room that is already nice and toasty the cage setups barely have to work at all.

The lamps are right next to each other; there is Plexiglas enclosing all other open areas of the top and we also have a space heater on in the room as well as the heat in the house, so the room is around 80 at all times. I just turned the heat on in the house today, so since then, his tank has gone up above 100. He seems to be fine, walking, climbing and hiding as usual whilealso becoming familiar with the larger tank.

for a tank i use heat mats under the floor and on the both sides also using the lamps this should work fine.
also if your not using one already use a dimming stat.

even though plexiglass is great for locking in humidity, it's insulating properties are not that great ;)
A piece of thick plywood will hold the heat inside and keep the humidity fine.

I'll get on the plywood no later than tomorrow night and grab a few more heating pads as well! Thanks again

I use a solid Oak top for my tanks and that seems to work pretty well. I also have a heater in my room keeping it around 80 degrees. Hard to sleep with the temp that hot but well worth it :)

I hear ya, I'm on the computer right now in shorts with sweat rolling off my forehead.
and I was only in the reptile room a little while watering rats.

Haha I know!!! My room is at least 80 and I woke up in a puddle of sweat in the middle of the night!! Totally worth it, but then at 5am, he woke me up while crawling upside-down on the lid of his tank; fell 2 or 3 times before he realized it wasn't the best idea he's ever had lol... I'll feed him tonight and hope that he is too fat and lazy to start that nonsense again tomorrow :)
