They're decent rheostats. There are better ones out there, but you'll pay a lot more for them. I can't remember what kind I have, it starts with an "h". I will have to check when I get home, but they were $25 apiece wholesale and work really well.

600 watts its says its good for, or at least the dimmer i use is. took me about 10 min to build one yesterday and like 10 minutues in home depot grabbing the parts. i got the dimmer switch that you can push to turn off and on so i dont need to turn the dial when i got it set to the right temp i want it to bring my lights to :)

just 1 if they all need the same temp, depending on what watt your lights are, just make sure you dnt go over 600 watts and your good, plug in a power bar into it for more lplugs if your using somthing like the 50 watt heat cord i use atm :) its real easy, cut the cord, twist together the two end with the writing on it, then take the other two halfs and twist them to the black cord on the dial, and your finished the wiring, :)

Had all the stuff picked out but decided not to do it. :(

Check these out the Johnson and Ranco both will do 6 heat pads and are 1500 watts.

This is what i am getting in a couple weeks. Along with all new heat pads. My buddy got their heat pads a couple month ago and swears they work better than any other brand he tried.

That site also has racks, but i think it be a lot cheaper to build one yourself. Also if your wanting to do a rack system you could just go to a hardware store and by a adjustable shelving unit that you can put your cages on would work really good. something like whats on this site.

Well if we're finally off the whole $7 do-it-yourself house fires just waiting to happen deal, I suggest any of the Herpstat units that are available at spyderrobotics.com.

lol its not a do it yourself house fire, their is almost no way you could mess up, beside electitions do this all the time, every box in your house was wired the same way minus the fact you adding build it fuses into the box and you connecting the ground to the box, this is done all the time, you dont need to be a pro to do this. I could understand if it was climbing up the pole infront of your house, its twisting 4 wires adding conection caps, hell you can electic tape the cap after if your super paranoid :P gl, its the same as what you buy in the store exept some little kid in a third world country didnt make it and stamp a fancy hi price tag on it :)

i WISH this was the case of point of why i didnt do it...
ugh.. my fiancee didnt see the point of it, BUT after explaining the whole thing to her and showing her other rheostats that are way more expensive she is finally on my side and i will be attempting it this weekend. :) it dont seem to hard at all.... :)

that would be a nice set up, the only thing is the aquariums i have are sort of a p.i.t.a to clean/open/move/everything...
i was thinking of a small rack system for 6 snakes because it would be easier for me to handle/clean/feed. i wouldnt have to deal with the locks and everything... slight laziness but it takes about 30 min to clean and water... i only have 4 snakes... lol

thanks for posting.. but i am currently low on money so have to go with a cheaper route for now...

Though, I have to disagree with the who DIY fire starter. I would have to agree that a rheostat should be only temporary until you can get a good thermostat. I know everyone,(Myself included) Would like to be able to afford the best of everything for their pets right out of the gate, sometimes it is just not feasible.

Exactly what I'm saying.... it will be temporary till I get all Jew enclosures or rack system early next year....
as for my heating problem I found that I 50 watt infrared light will keep my brb cage at a steady 88 hot side..... on the cold side... its around 79 on the cool side, although I have been having the light in the middle if the screen top for a whole now and she seems to be enjoying it more.
