oo and if you mean sealed the wood with i didn't it is made out of melamine. the face plate is the only thing made out of plywood.

Melamine is neither water proof, nor is it humidity proof.
Unfortunately, you're gonna have issues within a year.

As long as there is ventilation, the exposed ends are sealed, and all of your joints are caulked, you'll get by for more like a few years. probably could put some kind of liner on the floor under the water dishes. Melamine is actually pretty humidity proof if it is constructed right. It is used in Bathroom cabinets all of the time.
Humidity-proof; absolutely not.
Humidity-resistant; possibly.

My jungle big cage was made out of melamine i had to get rid of it because she would flip her water bowl ever so often and it warp and started to come apart. I didn't realize the water did that much damage till i caught her pushing a hole in the back of the cage. She was about half way out when i came home and seen her. I will have to say the cage was over 11 years old and i never had a problem until she started flipping the water bowl. I swear she flip it and make a mess just so i have to get her out. Her new cage as a bigger heavier water bowl that she can't flip. It did keep humidity good, but not as good as my plastic cages.

ok i will set on fixing that i was under the impression that it was water resistant and as long as you cleaned it up quickly there was not an issue. what would i seal melamine with? the back is made out of peg board so there is plenty of ventilation in fact i and going to seal up some hole on the bottom (where my RTB is) to help raise the humidity. i still have all there old cages that i can keep them in for a few days to seal the cages but would a normal wood sealer work on melamine?
