So far its looking really sweet guys! The silicone is doing well so far. Going to wait until it dries completely until I try to move it. Im going to take a lot of smaller flat rocks and layer them across to form the roof. Since it will be a bit heavy and probably too heavy for the silicone to hold I was thinking of brushing the inside with expoxy, a thin cement mix or something of that nature any ideas?
Let me hear your thoughts :)

The rocks look much cooler in person. I had to use my phone to take a picture.

dont know how easy it is to get over your way but how about a flat piece of slate for the roof ?
its light in wieght but quite tough
or 1 large thin flat stone
its looking great so far, remember to post pics of it finished with its occupier in it.
cheers shaun

Yeah I was thinking about one flat rock across the top but I don't think it will look as cool as a bunch stuck together you know? Gotta keep the theme going of a bunch stuck together.....
My two problems
- silicone wont be strong enough to hold the rocks in place
-Dont know what to brush the inside with, epoxy, a thin amount of cement mix etc....
It would be great to get some of your thoughts.....
That looks pretty cool. What about covering a flat top piece with smaller rocks?

I would put on a perspex flat roof and then cover that with rocks to make it look "right". Then you have the best of both worlds and will also add strength and rigidity to the structure.

I'd brush the inside with Durham's rock hard water putty. It's a gypsum based filler. You mix it with water to the desired consistency, put it, mold it, pour it wherever you want it. It dries rock hard, never shrinks, cracks or splits. I used to use it to repair rotted wood in windows. Awesome stuff!

Check it out! Still gotta brush the inside with some epoxy or something of that nature but here it is. Sydney or Nike is going to be happy :)

Oh how I wish it was snake suitable! I still have a couple things left to do and itll be placed into the cage and then you guys get to see it with some beauties!
This took me about an hour collecting the rocks, and two hours forming and silconing the rocks together. I have about 20 minutes left in the job!
Well worth the time it looks great in person. I'll borrow my friends Nikon D5000 to take the pictures that will do it justice :)

This turned out really well and maybe gonna think about selling these through my local reptile store. If only I had 50 of these things made by Saturday I'd set up a stand at the Columbus Reptile Expo this saturday! Id say $40-50 is a good deal for it considering the ceramic rock caves are that expensive.....
