ok, little problem! ive gone through all the normal checks for when a snake doesnt eat, heat, humidity, clean viv and substrate... all of its fine. so now im stumped.. the brb is only about 2- 2.5 months old and hes actually shying away from the food!! im guessing hes intimidated by it so ive tried smaller fluffs.. brained it, put him in a tub with it, still no luck... does anyone have any advice or info on what mite help..?

How long has it been since he's last eaten?
Here is how I deal with snakes that do not want to eat.

Get that sucker just as hot as you can before you offer it. I thaw mine in a sink full of hot water. And usually just before I feed, I re heat the water so the prey is nice and warm.

Put the snake in a feed box. Locate it in a quiet, dark room in the house. I stick them in our bedroom and shut the door, turn the light off. Sometimes I will cover the box with a blanket.

If the snake is not tracking the heated item, it may not be warm enough. Heat the head with a hair dryer or something.

If he still won't eat, try again next week. Don't stress him.

Hope this helps, good luck!

how long have you had him.
some snakes take ages to start eating when you only just get them.

How often are you trying to feed? Make sure there is enough of a break that the snake can chill out betweem attempts.

how often do you handle it ?

has it ate for you before ?

12 days is not long at all wait a week or 2 and try again. try again every week with a hot food item if it goes a few months without food you might want to try live. i would try after 4 or 5 months live if all else fails.

What you need to do is get another snake that will eat anytime (Coastal carpet Python) That way when your BRB is not hungry, you can just chuck the prey item to your (Coastal carpet Python) and there will be nothing wasted.

could be because its coming up to cooling and breeding season

i have no experience with brb's its only carpets i keep.

i would stop handling him until he ate

i tend to leave any non eaters in peace until they start eating again

i dont often get non feeders as carpets are voracious eaters

everything sounds like you have it well covered

temperatures can sometimes be an issue when they stop eating

theres a few on here that keep brb's if you posted your temperatures and humidity levels

it may be going into shed some of mine go off their food during the shedding proccess

they shy away from it if their eyes are in even the early stage of blue

I feed mine right in his tub. What your humidity and temps at? I feed mine at night. I feed a Frozen thawed. I thaw it, then run super hot water over it head, put it in the cage and leave it over night.

I would try letting the humidity drop down a little more. I use to mist everyday, then i started using Reptile Bark in his cage. Now his humidity stay 70% or more without misting. Now i just mist twice a week. When i mist it get up to 90%. Then take 3 to 4 days before it even get down to 70%. They say it good to let the cage dry out a bit and for the humidity change a bit like in the wild. Also 12 days is not long at all. Just try once a week when it get hungry enough it will eat.

i dont mist every day dude... im using orchid bark which holds the moisture and a damp hide.. ill let you all know how i get on now that ive stopped the temperature droping at night !
