Sweet! The guy i bought my Boaphile cages off of turn out to be a ball python breeder. He asked if i wanted to see his collection. Then his wife gave him a dirty look and say he needed to get to the store right now. So i never got to see it.

I think you'll find that MOST feeder breeders are reptile keepers as well. :) It may be how some of them turned to selling feeders in the first place.

Been trying to find a breeder in my area, no luck so far. Can't even find any serious herpers in my area. Seems to be a dead zone in that respect.

i was at the lock smith the other day buying a lock for my cage, and they guy asked what i needed the display style lock for, im like well i just built a cage for my snake. He's like omg you have a pet snake, how is it a pet, its not like they are all friendly like puppys and kittens? I say well i have 14 snakes and they are very friendly minus 3 little babies i have that will grow out of it later. and i plan to breed them and sell snakes as a hobby to support my snake keeping hobby, and make a few buck profit as well, when i told him about the snake expo in oct he was so shocked. he said wow i had no idea people actually sold snakes or that their was more than a very small handfull of people who actually like snake that much to keep one, the idea of an expo blows my mind, i honestly never would have thought it could be popular enouph to make that happen. just goes to show that with a little investigation you find your not alone in the herping community.

Most people who keep reptiles tend to keep it low key and only their very close friends and family know. When you talk to most people about reptile keepers, the first thing that comes to most peoples' minds are criminals and/or bikers. Before I cut my hair, I used to look like a typical soccer mom and boy, did it ever blow some people's minds that some who looks like ME would have snakes... let alone two 9' boas! LOL!!
As a feeder breeder, I've met a LOT of people who own reptiles who honestly had NO idea there were so many other people around who loved reptiles as much as they do!
You just have to look around a bit... :) They're out there...

Oh... another thought... (it's late, for me anyways... so my brain is misfiring a bit...)
Why not do a search for a reptile club in your state or a local state. Most states have their own reptile clubs, with members from all over the state and you may be able to find some other people who live close to you to get to know. :)
"Most people who keep reptiles tend to keep it low key and only their very close friends and family know."
Word.
My motto is this:
"You either know what I do, or you know where I live. Never both."

Is keeping reptiles where some of you are from frowned upon or something?
Here generally most people are okay with people having pet snakes except for PETA and some of the people who have rodent pets and can't comprehend feeding one to another animal.
Reptile ownership is frowned upon everywhere, whether you chose to see it or not. I prefer to keep my collection private to those outside of the business and hobby because I don't have anything to prove to anyone.
A snake is not a status symbol to me.

We live in a small town and my duaughter likes taking shed skins into school to show her friends, pretty much the whole town knows that we have snakes. I also have taken them into some schools and nurserys on an educational footing.
I often get called " the snakeman" by kids in the high street, better than "that guy in the wheelchair" in my opinion!!!
We have had requests from parents of kids in my daughters school to come meet the snakes as they are scared/curious about them and about keeping them as pets. I am always careeful not to impose my views on snakes onto people, if they dont like them then that is fine but at the same time i think that any education that can clear up the myths about snakes is always good.

Some people are okay with snakes, others are not. In the UK, from what I can gather from talking to others who live or have lived there, keeping reptiles isn't unusual and most people are pretty accepting of it.
Unfortunately, it's not the same in North America. Many people believe the garbage on the various tv shows and movies about reptiles attacking and/or killing and eating humans. One guy actually told me I had no idea what the hell I was talking about cause this guy on TV said that snakes are dangerous and shouldn't be kept as pets. <sighs> Whatever.
