well it worked. my corn succesfully ate 1 pre killed adult mouse and i put the second in her cage (wasnt initally interested) till later prob 9 or so. but if she doesnt eat it what do i do with it. its a bit too big for my bp and it seems like a waste to just throw it away. any advice?

Freeze it for a later time.

I would not re freeze any food item once thawed, but that just my opinion.

why would you not re freeze it? is it bad for the snake? i cant really find info on this from google its all diluted info about random meats?? and are you sure its ok to re freeze (just trying to get all my info)

It really depends.. Is it in any way spoiled? if not freeze it.
If it is turning colour or smells bad toss it.
There are mixed opinions on refreezing food, But in my own personal experiences I have refroze mice and rats and re-thawed just fine.

I have refrozen as well. I did not want to do it, but I gave it the sniff test, and it was good. My personal opinion is 2-3 hours max after offering. Now all of my snakes eat every time, so I don't have to worry about it.

I have been told its safe by friends and then told its not by other friends. Its just my opinion, as i would not refreeze something i was going to eat. I have wasted many $12 rats in my time but have never chucked them back in the freezer.

I work on the same theory as my own food, i wouldnt defrost meat then leave it in a warm atmosphere before refreezing it to eat at a later date. Luckily there is usually another snake for me that will gobble down spare food but for example if it is a large mouse for my adult corn none of the other snakes are big enough to eat it so i just bin it.

Here's a snake eating road kill..... The point is, a few hours thawed should not fester up any lethal bacteria levels.

Looks like pretty fresh road kill lol. Have never seen nor heard of that before, i know all predators are also scavangers as well in the wild but never thought a snake would eat something like that.
