View Full Version : shedding
Now I am much to new at this to know what the definition of a good shedder is but dakota is awesome I was told when I got her that she did not shed well. If the way she shed over the last couple days is not shedding well I would love to see how a good shed works. I purchased some shed ease and rubbed her down it did not bug her and the next time I got her she had quite a bit of her shedding in the tank. This whole experience has been awesome.
Also is there any thing that works as well or better then shed ease.

raise the humidity of your cage, if your snake is having a bad shed ie "skin did all come off and some has gotten stuck" check you humidity gauge and make sure your humidity is right, you can prove a moss hide you keep damp, not wet, if your snake has a bad shed which will happen from time to time, i just take my snake put it in a container with some warm water and air holes and leave it in their untill the skin that was stuck is all water logged and then i help gently pull it off :) if your tank is consistanlty at the right humid level you snake should have a good shed almost all the time.

A good shed should be all in one piece, a sphagnum moss hide will help greatly.

Very good point, I use the bathtub and sit on the bathroom floor while my snake is in the tub. I use just enough water to get him wet, but not enough that he cannot sit stationary and keep his head dry.
Good luck with the shedding.
