I need advice on how to become involved working with reptiles (other then at a pet store). Right now the house that I rent doesn't allow reptiles so I want to work with them, but I don't know of any breeders in Michigan besides BHB but I am too far away from them. Do any of you have any tips or advice as to how to start working for breeders. I want to work with reptiles as my job and because they are my passion in life. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks
Justin

Are there any Zoos or wildlife parks or rescues around? They are usually crying out for volunteers (which could lead onto paid work). Hope it works out for you.

There are zoos around where I live but I don't know if I could volunteer except Saturday and Sunday when I have the weekend off. I really don't want to work crappy jobs forever. I want to work with reptiles which has always been my dream in life. I have wanted to work with reptiles since I knew what they were and it just sucks that I can't. Thanks for the advice.

If you could fine a breeder near where you live maybe you could ask about getting some hand training working with reptile.

Even if you just volunteer weekends you are then "on the inside" so if a job should come up you are in the right place, they know you and you know them.

Either volunteer work or doing some courses on captive husbandry and reptile related biology is always a good start.
