What about babies? Don't jungle carpets have a dark tannish tinge when younger?

Jungles are usually bright yellow and black and Irian Jayas are usually more of a reddish-orange and jungles tend to get longer and thicker then Irian's do. I do believe that the Irian Jaya is the smallest species of Morelia. Personally, my favorite species of carpets is the Jungle.

I have seen adult photos of both and am amazed. I love my little jungle girl :) But when I looked up photos of each they kind of looked very similar and of course google always throws both at you so you have no idea which is which. Thanks Freebody for the pics above. Very helpful :)
I wish I had the money for a JAG!!! Those caught my eye awhile back and MAN...sexy snake right there, haha.

the snake in the link belongs to a friend of mine who lives in Edinburgh scotland
it was bred by rolph milkelson from holland.rolph specialises in diamond bredl crosses and various other morelia
my friend just brought a diamond bredl male back from hamn also bred by rolph.
he also brought a diamond bredl jaguar sibling home as well.im not sure who bred that
its looking like the female in the link will be bred to a hatchling of a male diamond x female bredl crossing.its an 07 so my mates waiting on the female getting up to size.
that should make a very interesting clutch when the time comes.

i'd say it looks more like an irian jaya than a jungle.or at the very least an irian jungle cross.the carmel colour on him is associated with irians imo.
great looking carpet no matter what
what you thinking chuck ?

I am with Shauny on this. You got a Irain Jaya or a cross. I am think a cross. Marking look jungle, but the color is Irain. Sweet snake either way, but it does suck not knowing for sure. If you could find out who the breeder is they could tell you.

I got her at an expo...it was her and another jungle for sale...everything else was ball pythons (thier main focus) so not sure if they would know...They have been at the expo the past two times so should be again at the next one so I will ask then...
Now I wonder...but hey...she was only $40 (w/ a $25 off coupon) so $65.
**The coupon was won in a raffle by my friend...she didn't have any money to 'cover the cost' of anything so she gave it to me and this was the cheapest thing they had besides beardies...For $40...I couldn't walk away...haha. And I already have two beardies and they about eat me out of my house!

Still a really cool snake. Plus it color will change over the next couple years. It got the best both color and pattern wise i think. On another site i am on someome just got a Irain Jaya that looks totally like a Jungle. The person ask if it look like it could have jungle in it and everyone said yes. My first snake was given to me and i was told it was a boa. I when out and bought a book just to find out it was a ball python.
Have done some research and i am 99% sure yours carpet has some Irain Jaya.

Yeah there is a guy on craigslist around here that keeps posting a 'ball python' when it's a red tail boa...I flag him everytime and tell him that is a BOA...he never replies and just keeps posting it...so I even sent him comparison photos...
I know my ball pythons, boa's, burms, ect...just not my carpets...am very very new to carpets but this little girl is just a sweetheart. She always wants to come out and play...and she loves to mess up your hair...
Last night we (my bf and I) got her out and she wrapped herself around his head and sat there and watched TV w/ us, hahahaha...too funny.

Well I found a guy that breeds a lot of different carpet pythons including both jungles and Irain Jaya's...I asked him to look at some photos and he said he would and this is what he said "Judging from the photos she most resembles an Irian Jaya Carpet Python. Thats what I would call her atleast."
His name is Andrew Hare.
Soooo...I guess I need to change my signature, LOL

That sucks when people lie about what it is just to sell it. Oh well still a beautiful snake.:)

ya she is still beautifull regardless of what you were told it was, i would be a proud owner :)

I am :) she is a doll...I don't think they even knew what they were though...99% of the snakes they were selling were ball pythons and they really couldn't tell me a lot about her so I think they may have obtained a few carpets and just decided to sell them...the only other thing they had was one woma python.
I still love her :)
OOOO, I got a rescue in today...a gopher snake. :) I didn't plan on keeping it for myself...but dammit it's so CUTE! And super sweet. They guy who had him was saying he was 'thinking' of releasing him outside if he didn't find someone to take it...So I suckered out and took it in...it was captive born and bred and it gets kinda cold here...already hitting 50's this early and just didn't want to let him do that...I am the towns sucker for poor/helpless reptiles...guess it's my new calling. haha.

How old is she? I could go either eay with the reddish that appears to be forming. The make such a drastic change sometimes its hard to tell, but age would help.

No idea...the people couldn't really provide a lot of information on her...but she is deff not full grown, they said it was born last year but they didn't tell me when...(early...late) ugh.
