I'm Peaches because that is my snake's name.

I'm here because i'm a ****** and got a snake knowing next to nothing about them. People have bombarded me with information that has been very helpful, but sometimes contradicting, so i thought i would come here for more help.

Peaches was pretty much an impulse buy (I know, i'm that guy) I won a snake starter kit at a reptile show (which ironically had nothing i needed for the snake i got) And looked at many different snakes before i picked Peaches, who seems to be "friendlier" i.e. more tolerant then most snakes, though he did bite a guy in the middle of the pet store the other day... the guy smelt like mice.
Anyway, I'm here to be educated so i don't kill or mistreat my lovely new friend. 8)

Thank you everyone. 8)

lol. yes he is a boa. he is a red tail albino. I still have not gotten around to taking any good pictures of him. he seems terribly camera shy. He is a little over a year old. Hopefully i will have some good pictures next time I'm on. 8)

ya, that's what i was told after the fact. of course the people at the reptile show let me buy him bc selling a snake is selling a snake as far as they were concerned. I told them it was my first time and they said that peaches was a nice kind of first time snake. Granted, as i said he is very relaxed, I know he will get big. that's why i'm here.

something strange happened by the way, i'm worried. I gave him his mice, he was doing fine, then he shed the next night in one night. just all in one night. It was about time for him to shed, but shedding all in one night seemed abnormal. 8/

I'm taking him to "the snake guy" i know today, but the more input the better?

When a snake starts to shed, his skin will turn pale, or "Blue" I'm not sure if it as obvious with albinos, as I have never seen one blue before. Then, just before she sheds, he will look normal as he is ready to slough it off. I'm not sure why this is, somebody on here will know for sure. So, what I am trying to say is, peaches may have been Blue prior to feeding, just about ready to shed once he ate, and popped his skin off afterward. Most folks don't feed their snakes when they are in shed. I feed my corns when they are, but with the rest of my snakes I wait.
I hope I have been able to help, and that somebody else will come along to correct me if I have erred anywhere in my post.

oh. ok, that would probably explain it a lot. I was worried I was some how inadvertently killing him. He didn't look he did last time he shed, which was when i first got him. It took him several days. I guess I didn't recognize that he was even shedding bc it didn't look the same. Thank you very much for you're help. I can stop worrying my brains out. 8D

Well if you are worried about his care you are on the right track. Best of luck to you both!

thank you very much. 8) I have pictures of him now looking healthy and happy in his new tank set up. When I move I'm going to make him a nice big habitat, but he will have to make due w the tank for now. My not so computer literate self is going to have to have my brother walk me through getting the photos from my camera to the computer to here though. 8/ lol.
