I dont know what to choose

I am getting my first snake soon a few days i was planning on getting a Rosy Boa but the more i read and think about it the Ball python is looking better to me. i dont know which one to go with :( i have researched both of them and yet still cant make a decision what are your guys opinions?

both ive heard are great starters, i have one bp and hes somewhat nippy but usually tends to hide, not quite sure on the rosy's but i have only heard great things about them, one main thing is to remember rosy's will live a very long time, i'm talking 60 years + from what ive read. To be honest i think corns are the best to start with, theyre usually gentle, stay at a manageable size, great eaters (bp's can be very difficuly), and they require much less husbandry skill in regards to heat, humidity etc.

In the end it is really your decision but if you're at a cross roads, hold off on it for a bit, do some more research and shop around! maybe you'll find something you like even more lol i always find it better to actually see and handle the animal over online buying, the colours look better in person and you can tell the disposition of the animal from the get go! good luck and happy hunting!

have you considered a carpet python? LOL,you are soon to get a few of us morelia lovers posting the same thing im doing right now :P they are good eaters, forgiving if mistakes are made with carring for them ie heat humidity, they are active and like to climb in their cages so they tend to be entertaining, and their is many different collors and patterns to chose from, depending on the morph they range from 5 feet ie irian jyas to the biggest at 7-8 feet the coastal carpet :)

I second the carpet python idea. They are MUCH more beginner-friendly than ball pythons and are curious, docile snakes. Check into them, can't hurt. Only thing is, they are very addictive. I bought one, and now two years later I have 6...lol.

Oh yeah i forgot to add addictive lol i got 1 and 6 months later i got 10 :P looks like carpets are more addictive over here lol

I third the carpet idea! Willow and Fee are steering you in the right direction. I guess my 3 carpets and the 1 I'm picking up today, don't sound do impressive with you two around:sorry:

Also, I would not consider a ball python a good beginner snake actually. They have very rigid humidity requirements- too little and they shed poorly and get RIs, too much and they get RIs and fungal infections. They are also notorious for being some of the pickiest eaters in the captive snake world. My first snake was a BP, and until I got things just right I had several vet visits for retained eye caps and poor sheds. Rosy boas are supposed to be easier, but I do not own one, nor have I ever, so I cannot really say. Carpets get larger, but are much thinner than a BP so they do not seem so big overall. They are also much much more forgiving, can handle a pretty wide temp and humidity range, and are great eaters. Mine will all even eat while in shed.

If you are set on a smaller snake, Children's pythons, Stimsons pythons and Spotted pythons are also great choices. They require no additional humidity source beyond their water dish and ambient air, and are great eaters, and calm little snakes that do not get bigger than 3-4 feet long. They do like higher temperatures though, as they come from the edges of desert areas. Kenyan sand boas are neat as well.

haha i dont have a carpet but they are amazing looking and easy to care for (as said) lol have fun, personally i like the irian jayas, they look awesome ;) haha

A thing to consider though is Carpet pythons can be nippy little guys when they're first born and it is kinda scary at first. I've never met an aggressive BP but they are picky picky eaters. I just recently got a jungle carpet python and Im already in love I can't WAIT til she becomes a bright yellow!
