View Full Version : Missing bp (We found him! updated thread)
I have gone threw all these post about how to find my bp and have done everything to find my bp... Nothing is working. I know Melvin (my bp) is still inside but that's all I know... I have 3 mice in a cage that has a opening so Melvin can get in and I put it on a heat pad with a water dish near by. I have moved it all from room to room and have come up with nothing. Where ever he's hiding he can't smell the mice or something? I don't know what to do next...
I had him in his 55gal tank that has a very heavy lid but he must have climbed on his tree and was strong enough to lift the lid? He was never able to do that befor? Melvin is about 3 ft long and kinda Thin ( he went into hibernate mode for 7 months) he just started eating again a month ago. Melvin is very healthy though said our vet.
If anyone has any new info one what I can do to find my Melvin other then the normal stuff that's posted I am all ears... Can ya help me?

if you dont have other pets.ie a dog or a cat the walks around try baby powder or some sort of powder on the floor at night, when you snake comes out you can see where he has been and try tracking him down that way. hope you find him soon. Welcome to the forum :)
Can I use the powder on carpet? I have done it inthe kitchen and bathrooms already...

I've used flour before and I know that vacuums up easily.
Good luck!:)
just to add your bp is probly some where warm..
Unless my bp is way up in the dryer or fridge I have looked everywhere. I haven't used the stove or dryer since I found he was missing cause I don't want to burn him. I don't want to have to take all the main appliances apart in my house! And flower doesn't sit on the top of carpet well enough to track anything.... So that's a bust. I tried. I did put the mice by main hot spots and nothing.... Trying to figure out my next move? Still all ears...
if u have an attic check there and same with a basement, worse case scenerio is he found a whole in your house that you didnt know of

Check under places like fridge, stove, freezer. Might be cold inside but they sure are warm outside. My friend found his under fridge 2 months later. Good luck!
This is week number 3 and still nothing... I keep checking everywhere but nothing. I had 3 mice in a cage that Melvin could get if he came out... Yes I said HAD. For some resion the mice turned on each other and now there is one... I can't believe he ate the other 2! I do know for sure it was the mouse who atethem an not the snake. There was parts left. Not sure what to do? I guess I will keep looking an maybe he will come out soon so nothing bad happens.... Did I mention my daughter has 2 ferrets? I have torn her room apart and so far no snake but am scared that if I close the door an put a towel under it I may have missed the snake in there and it would be trapped all in the same room.... Any more advice for me?
Melvin my bp has been found! When people say ur snake could be anywhere they mean ANYWHERE! Found Melvin last night. Opened washer to switch laundry over and there he was pinned (or so it seemed) between where washer spins and where it doesn't. Yes he went threw the whole washing cycle.... Not sure how he got in there but I can tell u this! Finding him like that scared me to death! I thought for sure he was dead because when I first saw him he was just kinda hanging there.. I steped away for a min to gain my composure. Steped back and his head was up! Took some working but finally got him unstuck. Since I used cold water on my laundry he was freezing cold and totally freaked out.... Watched him all night and taking him in now to the dr to make sure there is now water in his lungs... Even though he seems fine now just wanna be sure... He did go threw the wash.. I will keep all updated!

Glad to here you found him. I hope he going to be ok. Just be glad you hadn't use bleach or he would be dead. I would make sure he as lots of fresh water and i wouldn't even try to feed him for a least a week. What kind of laundry soap did you use? I would watch him really close. Got my fingers cross for you that he make a full recovery. Might want to take him to a vet and have him check out.
The vet gave Melvin a clean bill of health! Was totally to kepp his cage a little warmer then normal because he was kinda water logged but will be totally fine. I will post pics soon.
Chuck- I used gain liquid laundry soap. Ya it's really good I didn't used bleach or oxi clean! If it was any other load but dark then I would have! I knew he would turn up some place but that is something I was so not prepared for....

Glaad that he is back and healthy. What have you done in terms of fixing the lid so that he cant repeat the escape? I know there are others who may appreciate the solution you have found.
Melvin has a clean bill of health. Vet said he will be fine. Planning on trying to feed him today since it's been a week since he's been found and almost 5 weeks since he's eaten. He most not have been to hungry or he just moved to that part of the house because I had a trap with mice right in from of the washer/dryer and he didn't go after them at all.... I will keep you up to date and post pics as soon as I can! I am not very good with the computer or this sight as of yet but will keep trying!
