View Full Version : Giant Asian Green Snake discussion
Hi... wondered if you could share with us some general care info on Limon and Dewie please. What temps do you keep them at, do you use just a light or do you also have a mat in there, how often do you mist the cage, what base substrate do you use etc?
Any help would be great... thanks... J :)

No I was just waiting until I could give it my undivided attention.
Temps. 80-90 degrees (F), I try to remember to mist daily, sometimes I do forget.
The reptile bark mixed with coconut holds humidity very well.
Cage size all I can say is the bigger the better. They love moving around and are very curious about what is going on outside the cage.
I use a no heat light, there is a hot rock in the bottom of the cage, but it gets ignored. (however it does keep the inside of the cage warmer)

Dam it Wanye you got to stop posting pics of this sweet looking guy or i am going to have to get one. LOL
Thanks for this Wayne. You say you don't use a light?... Does your viv get good natural daylight then? Reason I ask is because over here in winter we do not get anywhere near the quality of light I would have thought this snake would need for at least part of the day if they are diurnal and semi arboreal so was considering a small UVB bulb at top of viv (outside if necessary) in order to do both heat and light job, as I gather that overnight the ambient temps in my lounge should be ok if backed up with a low level heatmat if required.
Presently getting a bioactive substrate system up and running to use as base.

I use a light, but not for heat.. Just for light.

Thanks for that... I am going to try a heatmat under soil that I am tryin to set up as a bioactive substrate system. I am thinking of using a UV sunglow at the top to enable a couple of live plants to be grown in the corners to help with humidity (I hope). I am hoping this will give sufficient heat, but if it needs a boost I think I will look at use of a second heatmat attached to the side of the viv.
Will have plenty of time to make adjustments, as if I get one of these little luvvie's will have to be in a quarantine tank for a few months. Just considering how I may be able to set this up to best effect.
Any more thoughts or idea's gratefully accepted! J
