I shouldn't see it as an issue at all. Just usual rules with handling applies eg. wash hands after and no kissing the snake

Just be hyper hygienic it will be fine. Our 4 year old handles our snakes with no problem - just keep a close eye that she doesn't kiss them or get her face near them and then we wash her hands for her AND use alcohol gel just to be sure.

Not a problem. You should always wash your hands/use hand sanitizer after handling reptiles and their supplies anyway. As long as she uses good hygiene and you do too, which you should already be doing, there shouldn't be an issue. Also, reptiles that have been captive bred and are kept in clean conditions don't often actually harbor salmonella. But you have to treat them as though they do and wash afterwards.

No problem at all. I had my god daughter petting snakes at a year and a half. Like everybody says just practice good hygiene. Its in their digestive track, not all over their body oozing out of their pores. Yes i know they crawl around the same areas where they poop but the GOOD herpers i know are up on their spot cleaning and general cleaning of their enclosures and they give their snakes baths.

np at all my sister and I was born into a home with 2 full grown boas, i was petting them from very young age with no problems, like everyone said just wash your hands after and keep the cages real clean, which i bet you do anyways. Best of luck goes out to the soon to be new born :)

a mate of mine who owns a reptile shop had twins a couple of years ago.his wife was prone to misscarrages.her doctor told her to stay out the shop until she was past the 4 month mark.after that she was allowed into the shop but told not to touch or clean out the reptiles.she had her twins and all was ok.
the twins used to come into the shop from the age of a few months.again all was ok.
congratulations on your coming baby mate
cheers shaun
