I took this when the female decided she would pose for a while. She actually stayed in that exact position for over an hour while i took pics and cleaned out everyone elses cages. It was a nice change from constantly being bit.

It sort of shows here, but in the right light there is quite a bit of irredescence (mostly green-blue).

Hope you enjoy!

Great looking snake!

We have been keeping Dumerils for a few years now. They are one of our favorites and are great to work with. We have a couple that tend to get defensive if you spook them and touch their back. This could probably be because they are ambush predators that lie half buried in leaf litter waiting for prey to cruise by. So anything that brushes by them will illicit either a feeding or defense response. We have noticed that our juveniles and our adults are also luring frequently. Has anyone else noticed and got to enjoy this cool behaviour?

They are definatly a great snake. My male just doesnt seem to want anything to do with me. I am constantly holding him, and he is getting a little better. I cant wait till their 7 feet :)

Thanks,
Kyle

I can't wait till my trio of Dums get bigger. They are definately one of my favorite snakes. Kyle, Do you ever have feeding problems with them? Good luck with them.

sweet snakes, its good to see a CITES 1, and endangered animal in the wild so established in captivity.

Yes it is good that they are in canada. I have had feeding probs with my girl. She only eats mice and only once a week. I turned up her hot spot a bit (88-90) and raised the humidity. That got her eating but still only rats.
