I'm not personally a fan of hybridization...

But can it be done? Like a hog island to a common?
Or anything else along those lines.

they wouldn;t be hybrids mate, well so long as we are talking all Boa constrictor sp of course, they would be intergrades, which are naturally occuring in many places anyway.

welcome to the forum :) im a fan of hybrids, even if they would never meet in nature, the topic is a touchy one, but we are all great guys here and respect everyone opinions unlike some other forums threads i have read on the subject,it either 100% one way or 100% the other with no one seeing eye to eye. atm im drooling over the coral sunglow albinos being produced, my god they are beautifull!! one day ill get one.

If they are genetically compatible, then yes...

That all depends, if someone takes a Boa from peru and crosses it with a Boa from the east coast of Brasil, then they hybrids to me.

you know what makes the albino coral sunglows? is that a hybrid?

well granted they are pretty unlikely to meet in the wild, but still not hybrids, by definition. We are only talking small pattern differences as Brazilian and Peruvian would both be Bcc so not even an intergrade, same subspecies.

However I do know where you are coming from as I like my boa localities pure.

no its all Bci, albinos and hypo, the hypos originate from Panamanian Bci the Albinos from Colombian Bci

Hello and welcome. I am also mostly for hybridization, as long as the animals are clearly presented as hybrids. The problem I foresee would be if people started selling hybrids as pure and it got bloodlines all muddied up, as has happened with the majority of carpet pythons.

Crossing a BCC or BCI to a Hogg Island boa wouldn't really be considered a hybrid as much as in intergrade, and yes it can be done. I have seen many 25% or 50% Hogg Island boas for sale. BCC and BCI interbreed readily as they are pretty much just different localities of the same species. A lot of the color morphs have been created and tweaked by interbreeding.
True hybrids would be like a Haitian boa/BCI or Haitian/BCC cross, something where you are combining two completely different species. Honestly I haven't really seen anything much going on with boa hybridization. People have crossed ball pythons and carpet pythons with everything under the sun, but no one really does it with boas. I'm not sure if that is because it's not possible or is really a lot harder, or if it's just no one bothered to try it. I find it hard to believe that it hasn't been attempted though, if it's possible.
I personally really like the wall (woma x ball), the carpondro (carpet x GTP) and the carplot (carpet x Macklot's).

i agree, as long as its cleary represented as what it is, its cool with me, i love carpondros! i have seen lots of pics of very cool looking ones.

have to agree as long as folks up front about it

willow that was a good example you gave in carpets

there bloodlines are so muddied up i will only buy from a few very selective sources.

ive seen jungle jaguar siblings being passed of as pure jungles.unless you knew the breeder which i did you would have thought they were good looking pure jungles.very frustrating but banning it is not the answer imo just be honest about it.
