question about hogg island and common boa

this is just a question..........

i was talking to a friend about boas and more so about hogg islands and he was saying that he seen a ad for a cross of a hogg island and a common boa. i was wondering how everyone felt about this if anyone know if this is true or even possible. Again this is a question so please dont rip my head off i just thought i would ask. I know that hogg islands really dont have many colour morphs and commons do so i just wondering......

Late reply, only replying in case any one else has the same question, and knows about the search function...

It is possibly, but some breeders frown on it, as Hogg Island Boas are believed to be extinct in the wild, and it is hard to find a 100% pure hogg in captivity.

i have a hog island and a comon but i cant answee that question accuratley lol although ive spoken to some breeders and they all say its possible thet they will eventualy breed... i hope this helped :)

I hope it is possible as I have a female bci and plan on getting a male hogg to put to her in three years so will let you know how it go`s lol

its certainly possible to cross bci and hoggs, last year i paired a hypo hogg to my pure hogg female, the only way to get a hypo hogg is to cross to bci.
the only real morph of hogg is the sunset boas, or super hypo hogg.

Its technically possible to pair any two boas together, even anacondas and bci's.

A hog is a BCI guys. We have a pair of Hypo hogs that will breed next year as well we paired up our Female Hog with our male salmon this year if all goes well we will have hypo hogs available this year we shall keep you posted.

Breeding a "hog" (not hogg people lol) to a normal bci would be a fail..just because no one want to cross locales..most people are completely against it and the offspring will be hard to sell even at bottom prices. Releasing a cross hog/normal litter into the public will only further dilute Hogs :( which would be sad because they are beautiful!! I know they do breed hog and hypos together for sunsets, sunburst, sunburns..which are beautiful and the only morph Hogs really have. But breed to a super if your going to so all babies come out hypo/hog or hypos lets do the industry a favor guys since its already so down and out. :)

Its funny, all my hogg crosses have sold, but i have 10 of 13 hypos left from last year! thats 12 crosses sold, sold as crosses too. still i may keep some back as they are 50% het albino too.
Not everyone has the option to buy super hypos, and in any case, a super hypo hogg is a sunset anway.
Not only that, but having super hypo crosses is only diluting the hogg out even more, so is no more a favour to the industry that het sunsets.

I was talking about crossing a hog to a normal..there is no point in it, it doesnt make a morph it dilutes the locale and not many people will want a hog normal cross..

and its hog with one g lol alot of people seem to think it has 2 g's in it :)

I agree that crossing for the sake of it is pointless, people are much more likely to cross to a hypo BCi than a sunset anyway purely because of the cost of buying the sunset, i dont know about there, but over here they are not common at all.
