Our rehomed corn snake has never strike fed since we had her. Each feed we put a warmed f/t mouse in her feed tub then pick her up and put her in with it, put the lid on and leave her to eat.
Today i put the mouse in, she was wrapped around my hand/wrist and as i went to put her in the tub she struck at the mouse! A good 18inch strike - problem was her rear end is still attached to my hand whilst she started eating so i ended up laid on the floor next to the tub with my hand in the tub eith snake still attached while she ate. When she finished i picked her up still attached to my arm, put my arm in her viv and she slithered off!
Next feed will put her in tub FIRST and see if she will now strike feed each time.

Some silly things while feeding. I had had one rescued baby ball that was so weak at the strike, we made a game (the snake and I) of tug o war. She would grab it weak, and if i didn't let go she would tug a little. I only did it for a short time but it greatly inhanced her feeding response.
Hi Rob.... how's this corn doing?... strike feeding now??
I have a couple of snakes that have different feeding habits. One corn loves to keep his tail wrapped round my fingers, handle of tub or anything else that comes to hand... after he has struck at prey, he then backs up to find a 'handle' before chowing down. Also have an IJ who will only start eating once he has a finger/thumb or twig or similar 'wrapped', and a hoggy that would only feed for a good few months if being held in the hand.
Broken the hoggy of this now, except for times when he goes off feeding - nearly always get him back on track eventually by hand feeding again, but corn and IJ continue to 'cling'.
Just gotta love their different personalities :crazy2:

Thanks for asking - as she now strikes everytime we put her in the tub first and then dangle the mouse for her to strike at.
One of our yuonger corns is quite funny - i put the tub outside his viv, slide the glass back, dangle his food in the doorway and then put it in the tub - he will then leave his hide, climb out of his viv into the tub and strike the food before wrapping around it for about 20 seconds - just tumbling over and over like a croc rolling.
He then swallows the prey really quickly - even tho it leaves a healthy bump in his belly - compared to our other young one which is the same age but slightly smaller who eats so delicately and takes about 10 minutes from gently picking up the prey to swallowing it!
