Does anyone have one of these? Our reptile shop has just got a youngster (about 2 - 3 feet long) for sale. I know they get pretty huge and we couldn't home it because of this but he is beautiful.

Just wondering what they are like as pets and if they keep the magnificent yellow markings as they age?

Conservation Status:
The crocodile monitor is currently protected under the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species (CITES) agreement, but is not listed in the Endangered Species Act. Population estimates are not available at this time and little is known about this species of lizard.

The Central Florida Zoo is one of 17 zoological parks currently maintaining crocodile monitors. The total U.S. captive population totals 52 individuals.

Well the one in the shop is quarantined so no price has been put up yet - he just looks soooooo beautiful!!

Ahh - bit of a long drive!! Not sure if they ship or not but if you search for their name along with "Bristol" in google you'll get all their contact details.

Asked about prices for teh monitor today - not for sale i'm afraid - the owner paid £2500 for it and it is in the shop for show - not for sale.

Sorry to have gotten your hopes up.
