letting them roam around?

another question from me...

do you let your snakes roam around the room/house (of course under supervision)...i know they could be carriers of salmonela virus (which isnt such a threat to adults but more to kids), and i desinfect my hands with alcohol every time after i handle her (as ive been instructed by a friend). As i understood the problem is their **** and if they go over it they have it on their body and transfer it to you...is it dangerous to let them on couch/chair/bed/table? Do these places need desinfection after (that would be pain in the ***)? i would love to let her explore...

I thought of making something like a branch on the wall to put her outside terarium to chill for sometime...

i also see alot of you taking your snakes outside, but im afraid to do so cuz of mites or other stuff she might get? how real is that threat? although i wouldnt do that yet anyways cuz shes young and not so calm and always wants to go somewhere, and would be worried for her not to flee...

Yes snakes can carry disease, salmonela being the one that affects humans. I dont think you will really have any problems with your snake being on your couch or carpet/floor. As long as you clean if it poo's or pee's you should be fine.
Mites are a problem, but for the last 3 years i have not had any problems and my snakes would have been outside more this year than ever before. In syaing that though they are usually put in my lemon tree or other small tree's and not on the ground.
As long as you have a fairly large open area most snakes are extremely easy to stop escaping.

i let my snake out to roam around the living room, i dont bring her outside because i think it 2 bright for my albino and I dont want to hurt her eyes.

Most of my snakes are too small to roam around in the house.

But we do let Chomper run about all he wants.

I let my snakes roam around the same room that im in all the time with no problem. I also bring my snakes outside as well they usually are around my neck most of the time they are outside with me the, the sunlight is good for them. They have gotten mites by being outside but i get rid of the mites before they become a problem.

All egg laying animals carry salmonella. People aren't squeamish about holding parrots.

When i take mine outside i always lightly mist them and wipe them down with a paper towel. I do this as a precaution.

how do you get rid of mites? i heard theres a vaccine from a vet that solves the problem, but is there any other more natural way?

@nafun: i dont have prejudice about anything, just like to be informed, cuz its easier to ask then get hurt/do something stupid...but also, good to know the fact that its all egg laying animals...does that mean that snakes that give birth to living babies (incubation inside mom) dont carry it?

regarding mites
i use provent a mite.its a spray treatment you use on the tank and all its contents.

you do not spray the snake or its water bowl.

it has always worked 100% everytime ive used it.i would recomend this treatment when dealing with snake mites.
