Good quality vid and nice to see a snake feeding on Youtube that is eating what it should and not just gratuitous!
Just a question tho - feeding the snake on its substrate are you not risking it ingesting the substrate??

thats why i went onto newspaper rob.i had too many snakes to take them out to feed.the aspen i used as substrate was forever getting stuck onto the food item then in the snakes mouth.i personally wouldnt feed mine on their substrate.
cheers shaun

I use coconut fibre and I find it doesnt stick to even a damp prey item when it's dry and clean. Good news, she took her first rat pup yesterday, no more double mouse feeding!

Great video. With the substrate i have never had any problems feeding in their enclosure. In the wild they eat off leaves and sand so im sure they will be fine on coconut. Aspen would be the only one where i could see it being easy for them to ingest as its long, small strains. Just my opinion though

aspen has a nasty tendency to puncture delicate internal tissues when swallowed.
It's an ugly way for a snake to die.

Up until the last feed we have used plastic tubs/faunariums for feeding with a towel in the bottom. Last feed the adult corn ended up getting the towel along with the mouse and having to spit the mouse out and start again - thankfully she did eat the mouse straight away - i was concerned that she would leave it after having to spit it out.
Next feed - no towel!!
