Hello and Wecome to the site. Get rid of the mites. I had the same thing happen with my BRB about 6 weeks ago. I used the mineral oil treatment. Had a worker at a pet store tell me and a freind about it last year. My freind Shawn had mite on his Savu Python when he got it. He had try a couple different treatments, but they didn't work. That's when we were told to try mineral oil. Shawn tried it and has been mite free for over 8 months now. What you do is put some in your hands then let your snake crawl a threw it. Make sure to get a light to med coating all over the snake even the head. It won't hurt the snake. Then put it in a tub or something for a least 15 minutes while you clean everything in the cage. Make sure to wash everything really good with bleach water and then dry. After 15 minutes or more rinse our snake off with luck warm water. Being it's a oil not all of it will come off. When the snake sheds next it it will look like a new snake. I did it with all my snake just to be safe. I haven't seen a mite since.

Oil is NOT a proper mite treatment & tends to damage scales in the long run, furthermore it does not kill any mites not present on the animal itself or their eggs.
One could smear peanut butter down their snake & it would smother them.
Water would be just as effective & not risk any scale damage to the snake itself.
That said the NIX treatment or Provent A Mite are the only ways to go.
Both have the same active ingredient that not only kills the mites but all of the eggs as well.
The mites will not be limited to the snake & its enclosure either & thinking otherwise will just result in another infestation or should I say the same infestatio will just "bloom" to the point they are oberserved/noticed again.
A quick search of this site or a Google on NIX treatment for snake mites should bring up all the info required, if not let me know & I'll dig up the link. Cheers Mark
