Thanks guys... I am happy to have him in my arboreal cage, it was bumming me out to see it empty.
When I opened up the snake bag and saw such a perfect snake with no nose rub or chipped scales, I was very pleased.

Awesome looking snake. I like the enclosure too. What wood did you use? It looks like MDF but MDF baloons up with moisture.
infernalis

It is MDF, but i am careful not to get the wood wet.
The very bottom of the cage is marine plywood, that's where the moisture collects, the water bowl spills, etc..

Cyclophiops Major - An Asian colubrid that is semi arboreal / semi terrestrial and eats worms.
they are closely related to the north American smooth green snake.
I got my first one in 2007 quite by accident, and have been in love with the species since.

Looks great. I'm surprised you've been careful enough to keep it from expanding. Gives me ideas now as I love working with MDF since its so easy to cut. I'd have to substitute something other than marine grade though because we can only get in in 4'x10' sheets in my immediate area and it is nearly $100 a sheet!

OK, I may have been off.. I just looked it up and marine grade is pressure treated all the way throughout.
This stuff I got as scrap from a sign shop that makes those fancy wood signs, it is water proof on one side since the other side is covered with sign vinyl, so its more like an economy grade.
Also if you notice the back of my cage is white, that was a scrap sheet of bench top cover, it has a layer on it that resembles dry erase board.
another option is to seal the MDF with krylon or similar acrylic spray on sealer.
When I used to make speakers for cars, I sealed the MDF for use in car trunks, it gets really damp in there sometimes.
that cage is 4 years old and has not swelled yet. ;)
I scrounged up all of that, the glass was a remenant from a glass shop, they only charged me $5 for that big sheet.
Another great source for cheap glass is if you know any contractors who do renovations, I got 2 amazing sheets of tempered glass for free that way. I'll dig up the pics.

Last night he ate 4 night crawlers , I'm a happy guy.
So far things are rocky. 1 had a bad shed and perished, 1 is alert, but won't eat. Another is in shed right now. 1 is eating and doing well.

Yes, I let him settle in for a few days, and began with every other day. Now I know he's eating, it will be 3-4 worms per day.
Worms digest fast and "blow right through" the snake quick.
so they also poo a lot.
I need to find myself an affordable source of worms soon.
Guess you don't get a lot of bait stores in phoenix =/

Big fat Canadian night crawlers, meal worms and super worms are insect larvae.
