View Full Version : New to snakes
Hi, my name is Tommy and I'm new to snakes. I have a Northern water snake named Big Bertha. She's 3ft long and I got her from a local pet store that wasn't taking care of her. I'll post pics as soon as I can get a picture of her where she's not striking at the camera.:)

Welcome! I had two small baby northern's that were quite a handful. Both escaped on the first day of having them and took me hours to recapture and a broken door to boot!( my room was small and I put my foot through the door while diving for a runner under the bed) I got them at a local show for $6 and ended up letting them go in an area I knew to contain them after determining them WC. Hope yours are well.

She is a big girl... and I can tell, she is a girl. My male is 1/2 that size.
Just like garter snakes, the sex is easy to tell just by looking.
